sr20det pistons being used in vr4/evo engines...

For all the trouble i think u're better of paying a little bit for more a set of oversize forged pistons and u can specify your own compression ratio.

SR20s cannot make it. Pariah engine and Pariah power =-þ

WAh... just simply judge the SR20 like this ar... SR20 quite power... must give some respect! There are some fast SR20s out there... and even more faster VR4s with SR20 pistons.

Besides using SR20 54C pistons was wondering why not use 300zx pistons instead? I thought they are ceramic coated?
Or better still 2JZ Supra pistons? Was made to believe they might be forged.
Oh well....
Modifying never ending story....

Supra pistons are smaller the SR20 pistons... so they aren't the right choice...

Fairlady pistons are a good choice... 87mm bore, matched with the 88mm stroke from a 4G63, will give u somewhere nearing a 2.1 litre engine!! A lotta people I know does this... Its usually either fairlade or SR20 pistons... supra, seldom.

Huh i thought 2JZ is 86mm bore.
I take pride in dissing and bad mothing SR20s.....
kekeke
Dunno never came across a fast SR20 b4 so dunno how super they are
hehe....
But most i know do make plenty of smoke sideways.......

SR20?
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

pariah engine

They are supposed to... but they're actually slightly smaller... trust me, i've compared them both when my mech had both in his hands before... supra pistons are slightly smaller than SR20 punya.

Anyway argument here isn't about SR20 engines... but just the pistons... =Þ

ur rite bro alvin....just collecting all d opinions/suggestions from all d sifu's in here...just d pistons NOT d cars....:)

well bottom line there aint no replacement for displacement. so what are u guys waiting for hehe =þ
SR20 pistons for the 4g63.
But if u have the spare moolah i think it's worthwhile to invest in a set of forge.

for turbo engines, the only thing that can replace displacement is boost :)

:D

a friend of mine got 2nd place in sepang in the recent drag battle. he has a very simple setup; TD06H-20G, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler, custom made t/body+intake manifold, stock exhaust manifold and STOCK bottom end. he has been using this setup since early last year. the engine had no failure but only once where his oil cooler leaked which all engine will go kaput if there's no engine oil. he has been happily boosting 1.5bar.

just to ask the sifu's here, how much will it cost to embed a sr20 or Fairlady pistons into a VR4 engine. I know it will take a lot of machining and all but an estimate will be good?

This is assuming that we have a running VR4 in our car.

Pistons (SR20/FairLady) = RM???
Boring/Machening = RM???
potong the crackshaft = ???
berings = ???
anything else = ???
