Overhaul Engine Vs Engine Replacement

4ag has double the horsepower of 4K engine, and almost double amount of torque as well, and not to mention AE86 is lighter than KE70. IMO you won't feel as much power as you will in an AE86 if you throw in everything AE86 have in your KE70 just because of the weight.

i too have consider to get a 86 halfcut and throw everything over, reason is it serve as a good future modification base. i dunno about you but to me its just a start.

4K engine??.. sorry im still new to toyota engine number... my car interior is very bad..and need to fix "bocor bocor" sume more..

now i'm peparing the total costing for my project... everything .. see how i can life with it... a 21 year-old engine is going to die soon.. but until now no white smoke except that there is alot of carbon at the back of the muffler.. and the gearbox somethine cannot engage to second gear... long shaft also start to make sound... coupling need to replace as well.. hope this project won't regret me compare to just overhaul the engine...
 
4AGE 16V (AE86 engine) is very good engine base for modification in future.

My advise is just drop in everything from AE86 to your car then see whether that stock engine power can satisfied you or not.

if no, you can upgrade it, again you have choise to keep it as N/A or go for Force induction (Turbo).
Each setup need different kind of part preparation and modification.
 
EG9.. cool pic there.. now understand thedifferent between 4AGE 16V engine and 4AGTE 16V (Turbo) engine...Ok if i start with N/A... the if want to mod to turbo next time... do i need to get all the internal engine part replace to turbo spec...???
 
There is no 4AGTE 16V out from factory.(In stock form)

4AGZE = "Z" letter stand for SUper charge (Stock engine from super charge version)

4AGTE = "T" letter stand for turbocharge for Toyota engine but it's not a stock form for 4AGE engine.

example: 3SGTE ( T letter indicate that this is turbo engine)

Normally ppl will mod 4age engine and make it 4AGTE 16V. (involve a lot of effort and time too, but worth it if you like turbo charge) Some of them able to make it up to 400Bhp and more. (Still maintain 1.6 cc)
 
Advisable to get the whole 4AGZE engine bottom to use as a base to turbocharge it, because 4AGZE internal is mean for force induction set up and come with low compression piston. ( Save alot of money this way because you don't need to change all the internal part for 4AGE).

If wanna keep 4AGE original bottom and turbocharge it, low boost is ok, but no point doing it as later on you hand will get ichy and will start playing with the boost for more power. End up, you have to change the engine bottom part as well.

2 X work and mean 2X cost involve.

about 4K engine, its the engine that come with your car, the KE70, if your car is 1.3liter. Malaysia should sell KE70 using 4K engine instead of 4K-C, 4K-C have lower compresion ratio.

4K engine have roughly 60 horsepower and 9kg/m2 of torque, while 4ag from AE86 have 130horsepower and 15kg/m2 of torque. so its like double the power already.

AE86's 4ag have weaker internal compare to other 4ag, but its good enough already. Its save to push it to 150 horsepower without changing anything (except maybe the camshaft). Go to www.billzilla.org to have a look, i got hooked to 4ag because of his site :lol:
 
Finally.. I bought a full halfcult ae86 from potong shop. it it really a bargain price... so today is the last day the 4K engine will serve the car for almost 22 years.... I'm feel very very sad :huh: .. have too let go the old engine... hopefully nxt few week I'll get and drive an ae86 car with ke70 looks... :D :lol: ...

I give a call to JPJ just now.. talk to Mr. Khairuddin... he said I need to go through PUSPOKOM inspection and make sure that the rear brake disk and suspension is upgrade ... that it... :D :D .. seem now It getting much interest to me to drive my on coming baby monster.. :D :D .. and get it legal on road too....
 
don't worry.. i will take as much photo as possible for our reference.... still feel very sad have to let go the old engine....
