Honda Malaysia is shifting its electrification strategy into high gear. In a first for the brand’s local lineup, the newly launched CR-V now features two distinct hybrid choices: the new e:HEV E and the flagship e:HEV RS.
This move signals a clear intent to make hybrid technology more accessible to the Malaysian market, moving it from a niche "top-spec only" luxury to a core part of the mid-range offering.
Performance: The 2.0L e:HEV Powertrain
Both hybrid variants are powered by Honda’s advanced 2.0L e:HEV system. Designed to balance SUV-sized power requirements with fuel efficiency, the powertrain delivers:- Maximum Output: 184PS

- Drive Modes: Automatically switches between EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive.
New Tech and "Digital Key" Integration
The 2026 CR-V isn't just a mechanical update; it’s a significant tech refresh. For the first time, Honda Malaysia is introducing a Digital Key, allowing owners to lock, unlock, and start their car using only a smartphone.Across all variants, several high-end features have now become standard equipment:
- 9-inch Advanced Display Audio: Includes built-in Google Audio Services (Google Assistant, Maps, and Play).
- Wireless Connectivity: Full support for wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.
- Safety Suite: Inclusion of Blind Spot Information (BSI) and Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) to assist in lane changes and reversing.
Aesthetics and Pricing
Visually, the CR-V gets a boost with a new Blazing Red Pearl color option. To differentiate the trims, the hybrid variants sport 18-inch Berlina Black alloy wheels, while the turbocharged variant stays with Sparkle Silver.Inside the flagship RS, the cabin has been darkened with a "hairline film" finish and RS-embossed seating to lean into a sportier, more premium aesthetic.
