Need advice, any good Rotary mechanic in Malaysia ?

lennon - i only intent to bring the engine back, but the custom is one pain of the ass, have to, u know ... "pay them" to get the engine in ... then have to "pay" jpj to get it approve the engine. believe me, the engine really drinks like hell, similar to driving a 4 - 5L engine. yes, even you start the engine, i think is over 90db, just the engine, not the exhaust ... i don't think m'sia police care right ... i know melbourne sure die ... i did mention it is rebuild right ... hehe guess what happen before ... the engine give way during a dyno test hehe .. which he haven't even get it on the track ...

alchemis - hey ... thanks, maybe i will talk to the mechanic first, because it will take time to get the engine in, and i still looking for a chasis or cheap rx7 so i can rip it off ...

diablo - 20b is nothing special ... i only produce around i think 300bhp to 360bhp, the best thing is i don't have to worry about the temperature hehe ... over heating etc ... that is what good about n/a , i think turbo can easily reach 350bhp to 500bhp ...

You can go to Vaz Maz, he's running b20b NA with exactly the same RPM like you, more like 13,000rpm. He's best time with that machine at Sepang was 11.5sec, so basically he knows what he's doing.

really ... hardly ppl run 20b n/a, most ppl run it with turbo

To be honest, i think most RX7 that has 10 to 14 years history, definitely have their engines rebuilt before, maybe a few times..... so mileage and year of manufacturer wont be generous enuff to tell a truth.....

Who say Police here doesnt care about the noise...... They would compound your car immediately if there's no duit kopi to keep them happy..... but of course, with Aus Police you will face the worse...:_:

in malaysia if you have the money everything is ok. How much are you willing to spend for tuning? How much are you willing to spend to mantain the car? Thats the question you have to ask yourself. I like ah choy because he is honest and gets the job done. I've had no experience with vaz-maz but have heard great things bout them. ah coy's contact details are 019 2736362. he is an excellent mechanic with very reasonable prices provided nobody is marking up. good luck and i'd like to have a ride once you're done. 20b NA is practically a fuss free car with 300on wheel to boot.

On the contraty. I lived in australia for 8 years without a single problem. Had friends with noisy jap cars. Its an issue when you look like a viet punk thats all.

In Malaysia, i;ve yet to be stopped by the police. Provided you don't look dodgy exhaust noise is the least of their problems.

Whats happening with the RX8 recalls? I hear Paralel imports are not covered!!!

nope ... i guess plenty of ppl are running on 20b, don't know about m'sia, my jap fren running on 20b too ... i got engine, not a car yet ...
looking for one after i sold my MRS in oz ...

Not everyone keeps up to date with the drag scene locally very often. I don't. Him even more so since he's overseas (i think) so cut us some slack aye... :shades_smile: we're all in the forums to exchange info. The general perception on the international rotary forums is that the majority of 20b's are blown, not sucking. Maybe thats what he meant.

I mean...the most outstanding NA rotary so far is still Amemiya-san's 20b and the famed Le Man's 26b. Which come to think of it, Ama-san's 20b GT car is alot quieter this year compared to last. Wonder why...
