Megasquirt

Ordering from Digikey

lanlee;
I've checked Digikey.

Complete electronics parts is around USD100.
Processing fee for International order USD6.
Shipping (estimated to weight below 1 lb.) USD 18.

You still have to buy these:

1 set partial kit (Your choice of MS1v2.2, MS1v3 or MS2.
which contain the PCB, MAP sensor and processor.
(that you have bought)

1pc heatsink plate.

1pc MS alluminium case (or you can made 1 by your talented craftmanship)

and on top of these, you also have to pay the extra shipping/handling.

so, lanlee,
(un)happy diy....... to you. You got a very good advise to only buy that partial kit and can get all those tiny chips and bits from jalan pasar....
For your infomation, I've been doing electronics such and tv/video repairs for more than 20 years, and I know many of the electronics shop tauke of jln pasar... and they also know me....

If it's worth to take the partial kit route, I'd have did that myself and give you guys that advise, but on the other hand, I always encourage you guys to buy the complete kit from the MS vendors. Why????? because I know well that it's really not worth it. Just to save a few $$$ and now you loose a big $$$$.

Now you feel the pinch huh.....

hi i've finished building the megastim, but now stuck at the last step, not too sure the DB37 connection pin layout 1 to 37 (coz i haven't gotten the kit yet) is from the DB37 soldering side or the actual female connector side??

cipan, i know u mentioned b4 there's no need to build a relay board, but just to be safe and to make it look tidy, will like to build it too....

1. Actual female conn.

2. You can do that, but it just add up more cost and to be honest, you'll make it messy rather than tidy since you have another bulk of box to be fitted into your car. If you can do the wiring carefully, then there are no reasons that it will not be safe.

my notebook doesn't have a serial port, but it has a parallel port, gonna get myself a DB-25 to DB-9 converter, will it work with megasquirt? has anyone tried?

Parallel and serial are totally different architecture. No way it will work. Unless it's a usb. Then you can use the usb to RS232 adaptor. That will surely work. Weird your comp only have parallel.

an update on Megasquirt Digital Dash that I've customize to my own taste :D

gosh, that's wat i'm afraid of, read too much n beginning to worry that usb to serial might and might not work (will work but costs USD 49.90 import)..... khoyos, what brand is your serial to usb converter?? buy one for me pls??

cipan,

fantastic megaview u haf!!! i glanced thru this megaview area (not really studying it) and i thought it only mentions the VXD display and not LCD that ur using??

wow, USD49.90??? i purchased mine at a normal computer shop in subang (not lowyat or sgwang) and it cost me rm45. should be way cheaper in lowyat. no brand one, but working fine...

found out another link:
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/dlptxrx-internal-serial-adapter-p-141.html

u can c here, there's a direct USB connection, sorry if i'm wrong and my question is i assume the actual RS232 port is not usable anymore after this mod right? so if one were to use this mod, there can be no room for megaview in the future??

I advise you to use just the usb-serial adaptor. The price is cheap and you don't have to interfere with the pcb. No mods involves and you can assume connecting to the MS using usb too. If you intent to connect Megaview or whatever, you can do so without any mod.

sincere1... ygpm.

hi cipan... i pm u a few days ago... i need ur expertise in ms...

hahaboy;
The DigiDash cost more than an assembled MS2. Interested?
Good if you can customised a 36-1 wheel. Be sure that it is accurate.
You can have your mod items here:

contact seller before buying.

cheeft;
I don't received any...

yeah, the vr sensor just cost $17 only, so i can order vr sensor then i custom made the toothwheel. but i see a lot ms user using dizzy cam sensor to make 12-1 wheel, can i mod tat ?

hahaboy;
I think you're talking like an empty can.... You don't even know what you're talking about and telling topsy turby stories...
I remembered that your engine when transplanted into your car, will have that disty poked through the firewall and you intend to delete that for clearance. That was what you told me. I second you for putting on that 36-1 wheel and now you're telling me that you are going to use the disty and mod it with 12-1 configuration. Which is which? Make up your mind. This is not a straight forward mod. I think you don't fit to have mods at the moment. Not until you know and understand your own words. Use OEM and you'll have a clear mind.
Check out what you have said... I think, if I were to do your project, I don't know how many times you'll change your mind before the project actually finished. Your mind keep on changing.... I'll have to take a month instead of a week.
