2026 Vios HEV launched with Local Battery Assembly - UMW Toyota Motor

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has officially launched the Toyota Vios HEV and Vios HEV GR Sport in Malaysia. The introduction coincides with the commencement of local hybrid battery assembly at the company’s Bukit Raja manufacturing facility in Shah Alam.

Localized Battery Production​

The Bukit Raja facility now includes a dedicated assembly line for hybrid batteries, capable of producing up to 30,000 units annually. The process involves assembling 97% of battery components locally. The line utilizes automated inspection systems and performance testing to maintain global production standards.

Powertrain and Performance​

The Vios HEV features a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery.

• Electric Motor Output: 80 PS and 141 Nm of torque.
• Total System Output: 111 PS.
• Fuel Consumption: 3.6L/100km (NEDC combined cycle).
• Operation: The self-charging system allows for electric-only driving at low speeds and uses regenerative braking to recharge the battery.

Ownership coverage includes:

• Vehicle Warranty: 5-year unlimited mileage.
• Hybrid Warranty: 8-year unlimited mileage (covering battery, inverter, and power management unit), with an optional extension available.
