Ae101 Tuning question

BT quite powerful but not really(2.0L 3SFE has more torque than 4AGE) yes but thats when you're revving it high .. the low end torque is suitable for daily driving ..

proper tuning and setup can make 4AGE still can daily commute...
my journey have been far from auto 4AFE to auto 4AGE to 'Final Street' stage manual 4AGE...
it takes 6 years to complete... spend more than RM20K...
i think should be able to 'main kat' track...

still not yet put in standalone and 6spd gbox...

a lot of senior here put a lot of dedication to their ride... 1st you have to plan your route...
unless you've a lot to spend...
btw, do utilize 'google search and read' as there's ton of info out there... only some you need to become member...

u must also remember, heavily mod car is hard to be daily driven car and also be aware of the fuel consumption as well .

its best u have 2 cars instead .

1 for daily and try to buy another car which is already modded till stage 2 specs .

for me, i think 4age 6 speed LSD stage 2 is more than enough for happy ending ^^,

Haha ,I have prepare two car for my use .The heavy mod one is for weekend use or holiday run .Other is for daily drive .Fuel consumption I got think about .4A-GE 6sp with LSD stage 2 still cannot stastisfied my passion for AE101 .Planing to have a 3s-gte as 4AGE can only be fun in high rev .3S-GTE with turbo can get more power and also 4WD .

i dont think convert to 2.0 turbo 4wd can pass JPJ approval .
most u can go probably 3s-ge .

better ask before do the conversion .

Both engine can be done...20V or 3S ...

For 20V the spending might be smaller then 3S...

Since you have two similar cars...why don't you just dump in one with 20V and the other one with 3S...

Both are good and reliable engine...both partly designed by Yamaha :D

I wonder if 3S-GTE can use FWD only. by the way, we are in malaysia. Anything can as long as you have $$. Even convert to 4WD, once you get invited into one of the jps's office for coffee and come out, what also can already.

yes 3sgte can be used on FWD ... just use the S series gearbox eg.S51,S53,S54 (from S series cars eg.celica ST202 3SGE/3SFE, ST183 3SGE, corona ST171 3SFE, camry SVX10 5SFE, camry solara 1MZFE v6).. or the 2WD E153 turbo trans from MR2 but need to mix and match driveshafts and convert the shifter linkage to the opposite side.. i thought its common to see 3sgte on fwd applications .. why are we discussing about it again as if its a new thing lol ..

Haha,I don have two similar car .If I have ,I will also not be doing one 4AGE and one 3S .Because for fuel consumption on both if freaking lot .

Haha ,agree with veloc

I don like FWD 3s-gte .Because If i want to do I want to do for 3S-GTE with 4WD .With these I can get more traction on the corner and not easy to slide because of its big power (450HP).

This is wise... I always think that high output FWD machines are pointless...

Because high power FWD if corner too fast will understeer a lot ,and when having drag will also lose to 4WD .If 200-250-hp FWD and two door like EK9 can have good performance .But AE101 is 4 door .High power output FWD is not quite fast if u are running high speed or touge .Because FWD is more easy to handle because of its front wheel are powered. The driver is to only concentrated don let the car understeer, but FR is oversteer and high power output is more dangerous .4wd is a nice choice .

again with proper tuning and setup, it won't be a fuel guzzler...
mine full tank get roughly 450km even with trashing, juat that it's 75% on highway...

to thread owner, i don't think you've plan anything...
and i believe you expect to be 'spoon feed' with informations...
since you need a high power 4WD... but you get an AE101 instead...

coz for road legal, there's no way you'll pass JPJ...

hanracing, 4WD for AE111 is not impossible, but a lot of hassle. Firstly, for convenience, you must try and source out an original 4WD AE111 which is rare in malaysia. In japan there are a lot. Even 1.3 L 4WD. Since it is ori 4WD, less trouble on paperwork converting 2WD to 4WD.

I hope if you are serious, you can let us know your project plan, expected time to start, and start a separate build thread. We are all very keen. Now you get us all excited. We steam already. How?

for AE101, the biggest engine u can get for street legal is 3S-GTE 2WD..

i dont think 4WD is an option.. only 2WD..

for an AE101 to be a 4WD, that's a lot of undercarriage chassis work to modify & Puspakom doesn't like chassis work at all..

Just my 2 cents

No way puspakom could passed a vehicle that originally 2wd to 4wd/awd...nowadays, MACC stationed their officers to each puspakom branches...certainly not those wearing uniform...they disguised as a lorry driver, taxi driver etc...if there's a hanky panky bout the inspection procedures i.e these branch allow certain modification whereas vice versa, they will go after the person whose give the result as 'passed'....nowadays the vehicle inspector there very scared to do a misconduct...that's whati l've heard la
