erm...i only understand the 12" x 12" x 12 "...what bout the 10"x 14" x 18" where is that?
if you listen to rock song which has rapid bass then go for a pair of 8" or 10". A 10" subs can play those kind of bass better than a 12" or a 15". This is because the bigger the cone area, the slower they move.Originally posted by kenlimfornication@Feb 15 2005, 20:47
ooh! thanks bert
so if i listen to ROCK songs...usually the bass drum sounds like TUB TUB and really fast rather than TOOMM TOOOM ...
does the size of a woofer effect this?and also the box? what can i do/
opps.. didnt know it was ur picture, got it from some audio website.Originally posted by Bert@Feb 15 2005, 20:28
Hey.. thats my picture... the a-pilalrs are custom made on that car.
ken,
the 10*14*18 is an example of box size calucation... a totally square box, 12x12x12 = 1 cu ft but a 10x14x18 box is 1.4 cu ft....

For ported boxes.. its recommended to go for 30+ hz... msot ppl port btw 33-35hz
As for A-pillars.. go to a reputable car shop n they can do it for you.. the jazz was done at KF Audio. ALso which website did you get the picture from?

tune by the port....
How u know its 30hz ? measure with wat? tune with wat? sorry totally noob in this thing... :( [/b][/quote] dont worry we all been there before. I also last time thought that to tune only from Xover only dont know box also need tuning. to tune it you need to use WinIsd. That program lets u to measure port lenght for tuning for a given size of an exclosure. I cant tell you how to use it here but you can find some tutorial on enclosure designing in the net. Yong was right. For a ported box, tune it from the port. But tuning is more than the port only, everything is taken into consideration like using MDF or other kind of wood, thickness of the wood (3/4' recommended), size of the enclosure etc. But basically the lower the frequency the longer the port. The size of the port also taken into consideration, the bigger it is, the longer it will be for a specific frequency. Ported box is more complex than what you see in the shop. Most of them dont even know about bass frequency thats why ported box has such a bad reputation. Ported enclosure is better than sealed in terms of SQ (if you know what are you doing) and much more loud than sealed. |
hahaha...yup....cant compare a adire brahma wit tat LA sub lah... :DOriginally posted by appleyard@Feb 16 2005, 22:18
to have tight bass you need a subs that can deliver in SQ. sealed may help but after listened to a LA sub in a sealed enclosure and a Adire Brahma sub in a vented enclosure. Needless to say tight bass, Brahma won by 10 miles.
But then again I cant compare the result becuase Adire Brahma is a better sub than than those LA sub. So it depends with the sub and enclosure.
