Proton-Volkswagen talks are OFF! Bye bye..

GM themself are struggling to maintain their business performance back in america. They are unlikely to have much resource to purchase poton as it does not provide any strategic value such as market share, distribution channels, technology and good manufacturing facilities. Unless poton offer itself with very attractive deal, if not i think GM wont really bother.GM main focus in APAC is now on China.

Main sources of saying GM is interested on poton is from msia site. GM didnt really positively feedback on it.

seems like its just another same old trick to pump up the share price.

You can also say ferrari is interested to hire you as their F1 team manager, and ferrari possibly wont bother it as they just take it as some hoax from the wannabe.....

well said bro, well said!!!:itsme:

one more thing which is not so logic is, usually those merger and aquisition place a high confidentiality within both buying and selling company. Most cases are the companies will keep really secret during negotiation and only release the news after the deal has made. Only in certain rare occasion some "purposed" news will leak out (e.g the firestone deal with brigdestone japan while the seller discovered the japanese take the purchase as a "reputational and pride related" issue)

in the history, if the news of company A want to buy over company B leak out. 90% chances that the deal will call off even it is true. Because the initiative is lost and expecting of speculation in share price will increase the risk......

our case is the company selling does not offer much strategic benefit and keep exploiting the opportunities by making public annoucement on the deal to increase the financial risk(share price fluactuate), if i am the GM negotiator, i will call off the deal formally to "crash" the stock price and teach those bugger some lessons.

its kind of trend in china market now......since the bought over of rover/mg with the chinese company brought in models re-packaged with euro style and gained success, the other automakers also try to copy that...

they have highly successful ex rover car re-brand as ROEWE and the another MG car re-branded as China MG now...

Let's give proton some time and see how they fair. Prepare the pop corn and coke y'all. Oh yeah, who's gonna bring the fireworks? hahaha

Fireworks? I think I'll just stay home and create my own "fireworks" rather then wasting my time with that loser car-manure-fart-o-rear ....
