V-tec Vs Mivec

Mivec engines give off a very smooth transition during crossover for reasons i explained earlier.

So there is possibility that the vtec u heard isn't stock cam...maybe already put hi cam gua.....

dat one i dnt know as the engine is straight from half cut. the engine smooth so jz chnage oil filter and timing belt after the conversion. btw, the car sold ed but still miss the my B16A big V engine...:sleep::sleep:

louder cam crossover sound means 'shock' cam transition, subtler means smoother.
usually, this 'shocking' feeling tend to make the driver feel an extra psycho-horsies.

the dude who started off this thread is not around, but y'all seem to be havin fun:biggrin:....fine,gonna throw few dumb questions to y'all.....sorry,tried searching for answers thru other threads but....there was just too much to read:banghead::banghead::banghead:.......driving a Waja here, was into ice b4,now plannin to do something about my Miss Daisy....it'a a freakin auto, plannin to swap the engine.....first thing that crossed my mind was the cost n which one to choose......it's either Mivec dohc, pumps what,175ps?? or Vtec B16a4(sirII)......i'm not sure whether it's legal or not to plant a vtec into proton....and car's for daily use, just want some xtra ooomph while travelling back n forth(Jb-KL)...so,how much would it cost me to get the car in running condition??would i need to scout around for a halfcut??what comes along with the halfcut other than the engine??hidden costs??guys, help out:driver::driver::driver:

blah le,don't la patah my semangat like dis:adore::adore::adore:........now only i dropped the urge to swap my car n go with the upgrade:smokin:.....

They say (according to Malaysian law) you are allowed to transplant an engine from another manufacturer only once during the course of the car's life. Not sure whether that is true or not.

Whatever it is, you are better off sticking with something Mitsubishi. You won't as much trouble transplanting in terms of finding the right mounts for the engine. I'd recommend going 4g93t, the Waja is a bit of a beast in terms of weight and size. A Mivec 1.6 might feel a bit sluggish and depending on the condition of the engine may or may not produce enough horsepower.

Generally Mivecs are known to produce anywhere from 130whp to 140whp. The latter only if you were born under a lucky star. This is mostly due to the length of time since the engine was first produced.

For Wajas i believe you can use a CK Mivec engine which will be much newer, and therefore will probably produce more power but that is based on the condition of the engine.

Likewise a CK 4g93t with a 4 speed tiptronic which would be great on long journeys.

4g93T FC good if u have good right foot~!:rolleyes:
vtec in waja? problem woh~! hahaha
mivec? wont satisfied for the money u labor~!

my conclusion = STOCK ENGINE IS THE BEST :sleep::sleep:

angel...u really deserve to sleep:banghead::banghead:stop demotivating me:adore::adore::adore:type r,in my dreams la bro....expensive la.....4g93t,that'll be turbo..right??no bro,not gonna get hooked up with a turbo engine....n/a's better.....but i read mives costs alot to upgrade compared to vtec due to lack of aftermarket parts....by the way, plan to stick to 1.6cc.....:driver:

If turbo is a no go, then mivec 1.6 would be your only way. It's very difficult to find a good functioning one and yes it does a lot of time, patience and money to make a mivec fast. But if you are an NA junkie you will find it rewarding :)

i'd prefer n/a....i'm just looking at 200bhp after a little tweak here n there....how much would it costs to get one of the engine?n i was thinking of going manual,so would the halfcut come along with the gearbox as well?:driver:

u wanna maintain at 1.6cc and get 200hp out of the engine, is pretty tight considering ur quote "a little tweak here and there". reliability is another issue.

to upgrade na powerplants, u'll definitely spend more than a turbo powerplant, if u want to feel significant difference.

yes halfcut does come with gearbox, and all the necessary parts to get the car running. thats why its best to get 1, which is a direct fit into your engine bay.

as far as i know, mivec and gsr halfcut hovers around the 7-9k region. but for waja, they use the engine terbalik, so the price i dont really know.

all i can tell u is, its not as easy as spend the money, buy the engine and rev happily ever after. alot of troubleshooting will come ur way, eventually it will test ur patients and it will put u in a situation where u will consider selling the car. =)

now ur scaring me d...........well,i thought having a turbo engine would be much of a headache instead of a powerful n/a engine...so,let's say i do get myself a mivec dohc 1.6 engine, how many horses would i be looking at initially??and what sorta upgrade would get me in the region of 180bhp-200bhp?n what did u mean by "terbalik"??

the engine position need to be rotate 180 degree... it is due to ur timing belt position. means ur manifold will be at front side while ur extractor wud be the backside of engine bay. best engine to fit waja = evo 5 hahahahah

not to demotivate u but jz telling u some fact that the problem u might face in future bro~!:biggrin::sleep:

just kidding la,bro:driver:.........i'm not into this thing in the first place.....i mean, who wouldn't want to drive a beast with few hundred bhp on tap.......but then, who could afford to fork out for such beasts, just a bunch perhaps.......just that my Waja's way underpower,n it's an auto pulak.....so,instead of a turbo fitted engine,i thought the next best thing would be either a mivec dohc or a vtec dohc......but,seems like i'll be in a deep mess if i get this thing wrong.....so,what would u guys suggest me to do??n/a or turbo?vtec in a waja or same old mivec?:sleep::sleep:

put turbo and leave it standart~! :thefinger::thefinger::thefinger:

well, ive seen before a Waja Mivec...Got one auto tiptronic sumore...
well for a 1.6 Mivec, its RM9k...that was two months ago i check with my mechanic...
The power is quite good...But have to remember this, not all mivec can gain power of 140whp...
Some friends that using mivec, manage to got only 120whp...that one is stock engine...
Some manage to get 130whp...not stock...
My mechanic, own one Satria Mivec and manage to get 155whp...lots of modification he made, piping, extractor a bit here n there change...
There is even worse,my friend manage to got 110whp only..he is just using stock mivec with CAI...
So the decision is in ur hand...Whether u want to put mivec or Vtec...

1.6 mivec,9k??but i've come across some with the price of only 4.5k to 6k......price went up that high d,is it??so,how would i know which one would be producing a healthy output without a turbo unit to it??as far as the vtec concerned, could anyone tell me if the swapping is still being done or not,i mean is it legal....vtec into Waja??always preferred vtec to a mivec......sugar,what was the video about??
