The best HU for my setup

yes lo..eclipse n alpine is the best hu brand so far.....no need to get top model one also enough..for more better than pioneer more2..

I also prefer Eclipse & Alpine...
For lower budget can go for Eclipse!

What do you think of the DEH-P5750MP? Thats about RM7xx...

If U can add another X onto your budget, U could get this..

a) Pioneer DEQ-P90RS + DEX-P90RS..
b) Pioneer RS-D7R + RS-P90RS

The Pioneer 8 series and above should be ok for SQ. But considering your limited budget of less than a thousand maybe some Alpine and Eclipse is good. You can never get everything in a basket with such limited budget. As such, there must be some compromise of here and there for functions, appearance, SQ(subjective), materials, and etc. If u want Ipod connection and USB, I think Kenwood, Sony, JVC & Panasonic have such offers to suit your budget. Try to use your own judgement and listen to these HUs yourself as it it your hard-earned money. Some claimed Pioneer, Sony and Kenwood are craps, if they are really that 'lousy' or inferior relatively, long time these manufacturers tutup kedai already. So, some common senses are important over here. Those who cannot understand some simple business and marketing principles over here will sulk on my comments.

If you're looking for nice function and outlook, Pioneer 6850 always the best choice. But if you're into SQ, die die also don't buy the 6850. The SQ is suks! Even a low-end Panasonic that I'm using now can beat it with details and cleaner sound.

Like what u mentioned, the CD5000 is coming later this year, then it's your perfect choice. No doubt! Btw, Panasonic also your choice if u can bear with the ugly design.. hahah..

Nothing is wrong with the 6850. i would recommended it to anyone. I'm guessing your dislike about Pioneer is because either you cant afford to buy one or you inability to use its functions and tuning options.

I have heard it, with a moderate setup... and I would say its nice. Even though you can get other HU with more features like the Kenwood but I would say the built in quality and functions is better than other HU within its range.

Dont expect a 24 bit DAC will give you an audible difference in SQ. None had proven it. Even RC cant.

For a budget up to RM850, I wouldnt recommened Alpine. Alpine has a great HU, but that in the high end range. Their lower range are not worth the money. Same goes with Eclipse. i would go for either Pioneer or Kenwood with Pioneer is my first choice. Pioneer 5850 and the Kenwood Kdc X7529 fall nicely in your budget. but of you can find an older model of the 6750 which should come cheap.. then go for it.

all pioneer sound quality almost the same from RM400 to RM900 HU. Extreme bass & treble with lowvocal. fang toa ok......heheheh

actually those with 24-bit dac will have better sq but I don't think 1k can buy
why don't u try clarion 1k can buy a very nice hu wit a not bad sq some more can record the song from ur cd

Yes I do agree 24 bit dac has improvement in SQ.... but is it AUDIBLE to your ears???? If you can then you have better ears than RC.

Secondly which would give you better SQ.. HU or speakers???? Does changing to a very expensive HU will guarantee you better SQ??? Remember SQ is the overall package. If you want to buy 1k or 1.5k worth of HU why not allocate some your amp or sub instead.
