But u've mentioned that ur ECU is chipped. So, there is high possible that ur ECU has EPROM.

most aftermarket chip are rewritable. Can see if there's a sticker in the middle. If cabut the sticker and expose to UV, everything inside will be erased.

Worse case scenario, change the chip. still cheaper than buying an e-damage. and u have better control over things.
