Why do you like to mod your cars?

Why do you like to mod your cars?

After stripping all the performance parts from my car except the pistons, I now understand why I mod.

cuz stock is weak. No power, no handling grip. Maybe I'm just used to what I had and after setting it back to stock it's quite... tame and no enough oomph for acceleration.

I agree with you Izso. My car factory's setting is totally bull crap. Its a proton made. Torque deep is major issue. And the weight/power ratio is not really optimum.

Girls also mod but it's their bodies, because stock body no power. Boy friends say 38D" stands out more. Some girls go to the extreme and mod their engine (vagina) because not enough compression ratio. F.
I mod car because I like.

From basic bmx to freestyle bike, plain mountain bike turn to high-end mtb with full Shimano XTR system, kapcai mod until modenas kriss can run up to 180kmh & 125z that can chase RR, now turn to cars....haiisshhhhh modding never end & will not stop anytime soon....now with additional house to mod which cost more than cars lol

Why is that? and you are here in this forum too

Generally, i try to keep my car as stock as possible but will mod under some circumstances, not because I like it, but i have to.

Let say the part you looking for is super hard to get. The only choice is either to recond the spoilt parts or mod OEM one so that can fit into your car. I believe some modification will improve something, but i just don't have balls/moonies to do so, besides, i don't drive that fast :driver: am a good driver hahaha. Stock performance is already good for me too.

here i learn a lot of stuff and ideas, and not all in this forum are related to modding. Thats why I'm here.

But the true story is, i damn love to mod my car, for the performance. Doesn't care about the looks. As long as my car can move to point A to point B, as fast as possible, but we all learn fro exp, so does me. Since the stupid incident ( i don't want to remember, i won't tell), I just don't feel like to mod anymore. If i really looking for performance car, i will purchase a performance car.

Modders, please don't get offended to my statement. I respect you guys especially your efforts for your car. this is just my personal opinion from my own stupidity.

Make babies, not war :tee:

When you started modding the hero, you plus 10, plus 20, slowly adding the plus, then suddenly you minus 100 back to basic, sure you find great difference....

Yeah, I got influenced most from my father where back in the days its all about tuning the carburetor.

When my dad looks at my current car, he says things like... u guys are so privileged now a days. But still drive like sissy. Haha.

I don't have boost controller, so suspect leaking vacuum or stuck waste gate....:driver:

Mine is great great great grand father of the Evo's.....hahahahaha:rofl:

Boost at 0.6 only.....:driver:

Not too into AE86. Just the word AE often appeared. I think there is one shop which mods Subaru that is called AE at KL? I'm also taking a subject called AE (Academic English) so the word AE appeared quite often to me lately. Mixed it up with other things already.

Haha, grandfather of Evo. First 4G63T equipped car is VR?

Your car become from hero to zero already. :banghead:

Sounded like as long as something that has wheels, you will mod it.

I'm at a point of life where I somewhat agree with you.

If I wanna go fast I'll buy a 3-Rotary FD.
If I wanna go fast in style I'll get a M3.
If I wanna go fast in style and have shitloads of money I'd get a Ferrari 358.
If I wanna go fast in style and have obscene amounts of money I'd get a Koenigsegg.
If I wanna go fast in 'style' and wanna 'beat' GTRs I'd buy a Vios and put a big ass GT Wing.

(Please note the quotation marks and the obvious sarcasm. Don't flame me)

But at the same time my Wira has obscenely good FC and overall power because I modded it. Without the mods I'd be getting 10km/L max even when driving slow. If I drove the same with my modded Wira I'd be getting 15km/L and that's with the 3-speed auto.

So I guess it all depends on what people mean by "modding", or rather, how you mod.

Vr2turbo has already answered your question. But to be exact, the extreme head was sold, forged stuff was sold and only the injectors and oversized piston remain. Erm.. wait that's not true. I have the balanced and knife edged crank shaft, balanced and adjustable lightweight crank pulley, light PNP head and full 2" exhaust.

But the biggest most obvious difference I felt was when the camshaft was taken out. GAWWWDDD I miss that torque.

Yup, AE is Subaru Specialist, all the more must be able to distinguish between AE and EA.....:driver::biggrin:

Yup, VR4 were the first to be used in the Rally, then followed by Evo 1 onwards....

Ha! ha! hero to Zero.....Fuh!

Now your turn did not read....

Easier to reply. I learn something new.

Which mod that you made had improved your FC? My FC wasn't so good. Full tank also maybe around 300km or less.

Haha, guess I mixed up EA with the Subaru AE.

Eh, not got one more that precedes VR4? Called Lancer EX 1800 GSR or something like that? Not to be confused with 4G93T.

Should be the torque improvement, only thing I can think off that can improve FC is better torque not power.

Not that I know off, VR and Evo all 2.0. That is the 4G63T engine.
But actually VR changed to 6A12TT (engine of Perdana) and the 2.5L Super VR4

The Wira is a seriously inefficient car. Even manual GB loss is massive. Anyway, lighten, PNP correctly, oversize the pistons and generally make everything move more freely whilst increasing torque will do wonders for the go-fast-pedal. You'll press less so you get to go further. I never get anything less than 420km, and that's if I'm a complete idiot and red-line every single day as often as possible. On average I get 450km. Highway can easily touch 550km if I maintain 110km/h... which again is kinda hard if you're driving alone. But compared to some other Wiras I know, they got VTEC-like mid-to-high power, mine's all low to mid.

SOHC ftw.
