is it recommended to buy gasket set from oversea, like ebay USA?
complete set.

I saw even china also selling such stuff but don't wish to risk it.


I notice the gasket also come in thickness, is it the thicker the better?

If buy from overseas, what happens if it does not fit?

Gasket thicker to lessen the compression, like for people who bolt on turbo to their NA, which have a higher compression, so using a thicker gasket will reduce the compression.

Don buy from US, too far away. Uncle VR correct too, not fit then another headache.

I buy from ebay cheap stuff only, those that I can afford to loose in case not working....hhahahhaha

overhaul is just a prevention as I have never done it before, hopefully it will stop all whatever leaks.

You say your turbo dying, what symptoms? Mine was blowing white smoke. Turbo shaft loose oil leak into exhaust......lol

to be frank, I don't know what are the tell sign or symptoms of a dying turbo.

if you recall correctly, I can't boost well in the past 2 years.
turn out to be a faulty ecu, each time when I tried to, the whole engine will choke.

only recent, a change of rechipped ecu, then the boost is normal at 1 bar.
of course, with a new toy, I tried to boost as much as I could..
excited like a small boy although we are old. :driver:

the boost has dropped over time, from 1 bar to 0.5 and over the last weekend, it went back to 0.8 after sending to the mechanic.

my mechanic was telling me that it just a matter of time before the turbo bid bye bye to me.
the cause is probably the faulty ecu, when the spooling starts, it was stopped.
of course, still can play around.

since I am thinking of doing an overhaul, I was exploring to see what is a good replacement.

ECU wiring checking - FOC

Turbo is mechanical, I don't think anything wrong if not boosting. Usually boost control is the wastegate or if you have any leaks.
My 2 cases. Waste gate spring broke, can only get 0 boost as all leak out, then vacuum hose broke, waste gate was shut tight, my boost went into 1.3 region. After repair back to standard 0.6 for VR..:driver:

Not bad for the price...Why not overhaul n service turbo first...Run the engine then go for 20g..

yeah, that would be a cheaper alternative.
spend RM1.5k first, to do up the engine and leaks.

the turbo upgrade/repair, is just a tag along.
helps to save some penny amount on the labor.

repair of the turbo, cost like RM1.4k
while buying a new one, AVS TD05 20g, cost RM1.8k..

*sigh.. need to find money*

I notice initially, the understanding was only a top overhaul but based on his quotation, it has become a full overhaul.

he has help me to save cost by repairing the ISC, the clutch, flywheel. (*hopefully)
a metal gasket of 2.0mm, is quality.
free ecu wiring do up, my current is a mess, like bee hoon..

hi to all bro out there,
I'm having problem with my 4g63t(eclipse second gen) engine
my extractor overheat means it's turn red when my boost up to 0.2 - 0.6
exhaust piping is 2.5inch and fuel pump already change to walbro with fuel regulator
