Well simple and dull can be okie, like in Perodua's case, as long as the quality is there.

I think the new Saga's interior is futuristic, but the standard of quality is like buying 4D/Toto:P Either you win and (rarely) get or good car, or you loose out completely.

if it's a standard renault engine, then low quality, unlike MYVI has twincam 16 valve engine, wid ABS n airbag.
i guess Savvy has nothing in it.
Low quality car.

twincam is DOHC , SOHC and DOHC both has own advantages , just DOHC have more advantages than SOHC .
ABS and Airbag version will be out later , the automatic model have +/- function . myvi ?
the DVVT on the myvi , i don't think it is a very very proud thing , whole car is totally a daihatsu . do mind tht the DVVT on a engine with capacity lesser than 1.8L has a very very little difference in terms of FC .
the Head Unit , build in type is current trend . don't blame proton or perodua , if u have seen more .. volvo and others do have the same build in .
believe me , the proton build in stereo system is better than perodua , it looks at the dash with the dash but then , it can be taken out , same like gen2 and waja . unlike perodua myvi that connected witht he aircond vent . it is a build in but certainly it is not a fully build in .

the interior is a huge improvement from the gen2 . the steering is nice on this car becasue the colour seems to match the dash as well . while gen2 seems like ... not fit . the most important is the plastic that feels very very cheap and downmarket in the gen2 is here. . hopefully they will improve it .
over all... it looks better .

yuuuck......i think everything looks ugly. whats with the radio??? why cant they just put simple one rather than put a custom design radio. why?dont want ppl to changeto better audio system or wat. and the steering is worst!!! they think people like that design arrr? i really dont know how the hell they come out an idea to design the interior.so far, the best proton car interior, to me is wira n waja only. the rest sucks.

Maybe they discourage modding the head unit so they built it in loh...

finally...;)

design got german (bmw) influence there.. console is nice.. but judging by the pics the hard plastics are still there.. but dont really mind because it's a k-car anyway.. hope that the fittings have been improved.. the seats dont go very well with the interior.. and rear windows are manual.. cost saving measure perhaps? or to avoid power window problem?

Not really, both Daihatsu and Perodua dispatched a team of engineers to Japan to contribute to the development of the car which all three shared. ;)

DVVT is also Toyota's technology...

What's the big deal with using another manufacturer's engine or platform? And Parts sharing is common for a manufacturers to steamline their range of products.

The previous Boxster and 996 Carrerra shares the same headlamps.
The new Mini Cooper (RM190k+,parent company BMW) uses an old bomb Chrysler (parent company Daimler-Chrysler) engine made in Mexico.
The All Mighty Range Rover uses a BMW 4.4 ltr V8.
Ford and PSA Group (Peugeot/Citroen) work together to build a common diesel engine.
The Skoda, Seat Cordoba, VW Golf, Audi A3 all use the same platform and engine, with different state of tune.i.e 150bhp-225bhp. (ps they all use the same steering wheel, only different is the centre boss and surfacing)
PSA and Toyota develope their new city car together.

All these manufacturers are the Top 10 Auto comapnies in the world. Toyota (multiple factories around the world) is so cash rich they do not need funding for their Formula One team. Yet they work wit other manufacturers.

So why when Proton (20 yrs old) buys an engine or platform off other companies or share parts from other models people comment ?

its weird that bmw, mercedes, peuqeot...etc.etc. all have built in audio systems, but no one flames them for it... hmmm?

faisal ,
i saw R3 on the road !!! at alor star ... nice ...
anywhere , yeah , i stand with u faisal ... thare are many blind basher out there . for gen2 i bash badly on how they design the interior that is not user friendly at all . i think u know what i mean ... the over all design is totally not easy to or not comfort . it doesn't close to a race car too ... first thing is the door panel arm rest . others ...
faisal , can u let me know where is the semi bucket seat design in WRM ?

zeroed ,
do u think toyota need them to help develope the car when the japanese are decade experienced in bulidign car .
they just send them there to do their myvi , choose the design , cut cost here cut cost there to fit the budget . dont' mind i say this , myvi don't even have GOA , it compromise the cost alot by using the steel grade ... for GOA . normally a strong chassis is 1st the structure . while others , the welding points , the steel grades ... all work ogether , the weldign points will cost a lot becasue those mulit weld technology cost alot , while the mulitgrade steel is quite costly ... like S40 3 different steel drade for crumple zone .
GOA in asean i believe is more to marketing purpose . did u know that the camry in USA scored a bad crash test even with GOA . after the crash test only the car improves alot .

that's becoz they never been in it.....

bridgestoneRE711, dont talk about something that you are not sure of. it just makes you look stupid. FYI, there is no such thing as "multigrade" steel. the S40 (and thats the same chassis as waja) uses a few different steel grades (like 3 types of steel on one part not ONE "multigrade") for crumple zone, not because its stronger, but mainly because want to cut cost.

and see this links for the GOA stuff
