Hi. Wondering if any of you knows that there is a limit cap (stated in the Star's InTech sometime back) and wondering how many of you guy (and gals) are affected by the "tests"? It says that only peer-to-peer applications are affected so non-peer to peers are okay.

As far as I know there was a peer-to-peer limit that Streamyx has set. What's the limit set I don't know. This means that there is a particular limit of downloading using peer-to-peer methods (kazaa, bitorrent, emule, etc). All I know is that using any of the peer-to-peer methods is now reduced (downloading via normal web download is not affected and so is using FTP also not affected) and it suppose to be a test run where Streamyx would set a limit from 7pm to 7am and if successful, they would continue on with the cap limit. This is to reduce the night time downloads and reduce the line usage at night. My friend was affected and saw that his normal download speed via bittorrent was slowed down and never go above 10kbps. Sometimes only 1kbps. So my question is "does anyone here knows what's really going on?". It came out in The Star's InTech but can't recall the date. Just wondering...that's all.

After much digging, I found out that Streamyx lifted the cap limit cause it there was too much complaints and too many torrents sites, versions, etc to keep track. It was just a test for a short while it seemed. Everything's okay now.

for the past few weeks, i've been encounting line drop or even dorp of adsl. hence no internet connection. this only happens in the afternoon. but now i guess they already lifted this cap thingy and my p2p went from average speed to fast:regular_smile:
