WTF? Because of they are not capable to upgrade their system, And also no balls to invest, they are actually come out with such thing like limit the transfer rate of the user. Some more wrap with a beautiful fair use policy. I pay every month for 1Mbps and I deserve for 1Mbps for every second 24x7. Regardless wtf I'm browsing or downloading. Ok, Technically 1Mbps is just theoretically and practically should be at least 80% of it. What I'm getting now is a freaking 60KBps (8 bit = 1 byte, means 60KB = 480kbps) and that is the maximum I can get. Some more frequently disconnected.

I stayed in Seoul's cheapest hotel (like those hotel in Jln Alor). This is the speed I get :

A cheap 60 rooms hotel like that using a T1 line?

http://www.streamyx.com.my/customer_care/customer_care.php?id=customer_care_fair_usage_policy

TM is committed to ensuring our customers receive the best broadband service at the most competitive price. To achieve this goal, we provide a contended broadband service. This means our Internet bandwidth (capacity) is catered to be shared by all our customers at any one point in time, to ensure we provide a satisfactory and acceptable performance on an equal basis to all our customers.

However, a small number of customers use more than their "fair share" of the Internet bandwidth provided by us. On average, about 10% of our customers are using a disproportionate amount of Internet bandwidth. These customers degrade the performance of our broadband service by taking bandwidth away from other customers, who use the service fairly.

For example, some customers use P2P or file sharing software, which constantly sends and receives videos and other types of very large files, throughout the day. These activities (download and upload continuously) use a lot of bandwidth and can significantly reduce the connection speed, which other customers are getting to access the Internet during peak hours. We don’t believe this is fair to the vast majority of our customers.

We wish to bring to your attention our traffic prioritization policy with regards to P2P and Fair Usage Policy. We would like to reiterate that the P2P throughput is subject to peers (seed) availability and their throughput as well. Kindly note that TM does not have any control over peers’ availability or throughput.

The Fair Usage Policy automatically identifies the extremely heavy users and manages their bandwidth in order to protect the service of all our other customers. This traffic prioritization policy will protect the quality of service for the majority of our customers when they use the service, while at the same time, still allowing the extremely heavy users to continue to send and receive files with certain restrictions. With this policy in place, we will prioritize Internet activities like web browsing, live streaming, messaging applications and VOIP access while traffic to P2P sites will be given lower priority, due to the high bandwidth consumption of such services.

We wish to also highlight that as an Internet Service Provider (ISP), TM only provides access to the Internet and does not guarantee content delivery and performance where it is not within the domain of TM as an ISP. In fact, our international traffic management policy is designed to cater for all our customers so they have an optimal surfing experience within the normal limits of Internet usage.

As our priority is for all our customers to have a positive Internet experience, we wish to emphasize that it is important for all our customers to practice responsible usage of the allocated bandwidth based on normal usage.

We would like to reiterate that we are not against the use of P2P but we would like to educate our customers that the usage of excessive P2P does impact the overall service availability to our other customers.

TM does provide every customer with an allocated bandwidth, where other customers may use when not used by the others. Unfortunately, the nature of P2P more often than not, takes more than their allocated bandwidth, thus causing undue setbacks for other users when they want to use the service.

As a responsible service provider, we believe it is our responsibility and commitment to educate and encourage responsible usage of the infrastructure we provide.

If one day the population is too much, and the food is not enough, then should limit peoples' meal, in stead of opening more farm and plantation to produce enough food. I'm wondering what contain in the head of telikom management staffs. if worry about the volume, can always joint venture with the neighbor countries telecommunication companies for a real solution.:mad::mad:

If I'm not mistaken, TMNET sez in their QoS (Quality of Service) is stated as "best practice" for Streamyx. In common telco talk in M'sia, it's just 50%

for example, if u subscribe to a 1Mbps (assuming 1Mb = 1024b), and the best you can get in average is 512kbps... then TMNET is of the hook oledy....

Since TM is monopolizing the infrastructure here in M'sia, they don't even bothered to up their QoS...

But, I've heard that govt wanna force TM to up the "best practice" standard to at least 75%....

I know this since my company involved in IPVPN for commercial customers.....so got a lot of chance to talk to TM's guy.....

yup dis one need to blame govt dy...

coz they let Telekom monopolize d broadband industry...

they force jaring to be bought over, force timenet to chap lap....

nw left maxis but maxis expensiv nia....1mb wireless broadband is rm153 per month...

i paying rm110/month for 1mb bt download mp3 using frostwire at 2kb/sec....imagine la....

I check celcom web also, the fastest package some more stated "This service is bound by Celcom’s Fair Usage Policy of 5GB a month". What is the point to have 3.6mbps? I think monopoly is 1 thing, typical Malaysian business man minded is another thing. Everyone also wanna make fast money. No one wanna provide good service to built up reputation and make long term money. That's why proton will never become asian's bmw. The meaning of CEO had been misinterpretation.

maxis broadband is SUPER CRAP !!!!! i remembered posting here how stressful i was with that M***** F**king line.... bad service, always rosak, unfriendly control centre..

but anyway.. yea i am disappointed here... Line in Indonesia are super better n faster than here... N the hotel i stayed was not also 5 stars.. but got the ultimate line.. even the restaurants n shopping malls also are fast..

*looks at telekom n compare with one local uni... they both need a change la

if we pay for 1L of water, we get 1L.
if we pay for 1Mb of line connection, we should be getting 1Mb!
tm = govt = money sucker :mad::mad::mad:

Strange...'cept for the occasional line kaput problem, i regularly get readings of at least 1200kbps n above (1Mbps pkg) - the highest i ever got (tested by speedtest.net) was 1700kbps...but the strange thing is, my office in USJ 21 with oni max 800kbps can watch youtube with minimal jerking - but at home, almost hopeless most of the time - except for those rare good times in the month when youtube runs nicely...

I think something wrong with your kbps reading. BTW, 1KB = 8kb. With real 256kbps, youtube shouldn't have jerk or caching speed slower than movie speed.

screamyx sucks ??
screamyx slow ??
screamyx down ??

NORMAL LIAU LORRR

csl,
dude, would u be able to resize your screen cap to a smaller size? It takes a thousand years to load. Also, you may want to check to see if your connection is being spoofed cos if it is, then your connection will be really slow. What u could try it just to disconnect for a while, then reconnect again.

Some downloads can be slow if don't have enough seeder

Some downloads can be slow if seeder set upload bandwidth limit

Some downloads can be slow when there's a few programs running at the background using the bandwidth

Some downloads when computer settings is not optimized

Best of all...downloads are slow because we have a lousy privider :stupid:

I need to understand something. I'm using uTorrent. Under the column 'seeds' and 'peers', there will be 2 figures each. One in brackets, and one out of brackets. For example, 11(435). What does the figure in bracket means? and what does the figure out of the bracket means? Anybody have any idea? Maybe we should share some torrents here. buahaha

wah bro csl downloading some classic HK '3 kap' movie.... which i happened to downloaded b4..want me to seed?

Actually been found out long time ago. Every time the same result. As long as I'm in other countries, like Korea, Russia, Norway, Germany, Holland and etc, sure no problem for 3 movies for within 8 hours. Normally I'll connect once I arrived and settle down. For the days of downloading in Malaysia, only very little % done but when continue else where, finish up very fast. Of cause, Seoul is the fastest I ever get so far. Other mostly about 3-400KBps (firefox still online with several tabs). For the shut down for a while then on back trick, I tried and always do as soon as I see the download speed maintain at low level (2-3KBps). The longest shut down was few days (family out station). Still cannot get a proper speed. And there are people out there still cannot get the DSL service and been told the slot are full (till date). They didn't have the confidence for such investment at the beginning, I just can't believe they are still the same till today. if 1mbps is not going to do what it promised, how T.F. they want people to sign up their 2-4mbps deal?

Satria95, I upload the pic in Russia (in a small town like 2x size of Kemaman, for your ref, the only cinema over here is as big as 4 primary school class rooms) and took me not more than 3 puffs of cigarette. That is my screen resolution and I'm not sure if it will be clear if I resize it.

Vtec, I rarely download stage 3 because of the seeders are less. Only occasionally if have good title. JAV and Western pon a lot faster. My hard drives, 160+120 all full. the 250 half way already :bawling: .

For the consumer rights, if this fair usage policy continue to be used as an excuse for covering up their misleading advertising strategy, then one day will extend to other sector like fuel, road, or even food. So the consumers will be robbed legally :mad:
