Choice of Project Car

Drove a Putra with 4G93 NA rebore to 1.9 before and power delivery is much linear. Not to mentioned higher redline(compare to turbo) and boxer like exhaust setup.
We can always spot welding the chassis for more durability. And there are aftermarket strut bars to play with. Too bad JPJ may had their way on visible spot welded chassis.

1.9? This Putra went all the way to 2.2. God knows how he went from 1.8 to 2.2. Unbelievable power though. Hated the high cams, made it damn twitchy on the high end.

I've heard Satrias going until like 400-500hp. Can putra do the same? Or at least tell me what will happen if the chassis can't stand the power

I've seen a Wira with that kind of power. I dunno, but personally I doubt these cars ever really utilize the full potential on the street. Like what crazyee said - it's going to be beyond realibility. The Putra I was harping on about had slightly more than 300whp and went on track every other weekend. Sepang once had his bumper fall off supposedly because of his canards and it was producing too much front downforce it tore the plastic joints right off. After about half a year, the owner noticed a lot of strange squeeky noises and after some checking discovered cracks (very visible) along the front left absorber mounter area near the engine mounting and the front radiator chassis area there. Cracks. I never thought it'd be possible crack a chassis especially the reinforced area around the suspension mount.

So good luck to the 500bhp Satrias.

A good idea for cheap and powerful project car would be 4age in ke20 or if crazy enough 2j in ke70. Since it is a project car road tax and Jpj is out of the question. Of coz with proper strengthening, the ride would be very exciting.

that's wat i supposed, it's just about how far we commit into this.

great fun!

Well... I mean the viewing and stuff. It is troublesome to go all the way and find the car is not what you wanted

well, that's always the thing, innit?

malaysian has SHIT transportation system, driving all the way cost quite a bit
how I wish we have good train system, ease our pocket alot

And 1.3 to a 2.2 turbo? That's not even the c99 chassis. And here's the deal breaker :

"Seldom use this car. Just parking at home and for hobby only."

Like I said bro, some folks never really utilize the power the car has so no worries on chassis damage due to overwhelming power.

How the hell did he get it approved with JPJ anyway? That's a 69% increase in displacement!!!

No idea. There states that he endorsed for 1.6 mirage which is 4G92 MIVEC I guess. Now he ended up with a rebored and restroked to 2.2 litre 4G63T.

But from the looks of his car, it doesn't look suspicious. Sleeper car...

JPJ go by the paper to endorse. Since 1.6 can pass. What is inside they can only check if take apart.
This way paying 1.6 road tax only.....:driver:

I know right. Since it is illegal already anyway, he just wasted his efforts endorsing the 1.6. Might as well leave it as 1.3 and running the 2.2

But he endorse with 1.6 block number, so in a way legal until take apart....
Better then running with illegal engine.....:driver:

Putra chassis no good? It's the c99 chassis. The best amongst all the Wira and Satrias. If not mistaken there's a rally 1.8 Wira that has a reinforced c99 chassis that makes is impenetrable. But it'll be a miracle to find one of those limited edition Wiras.

Anyway, the Putra C99 chassis is good up to 300 whp. I've seen a torn chassis with a crazy modified NA 4G93 that had more WHP than that.

You'd be surprised, there usually is a small amount on mudah from time to time in pretty good condition too. :driver:

i'm selling my ride, wira c99 chassis in good cond with evo2 engine, interested?..Lol

the .2 was never mention
definitely 1.3 to 2.0 as registration

JPJ check on engine number only, never the actually combustion

let me ask you something
what's the mentality behind of buying a modified 450hp FF car?
1. you're not the one who made it happen? what;s the joy? Looks good standing beside the number?
2. Maintenance wise? i suppose failing rate is high
3. not like you can troll on the road, with all kuda kuda?

to be honest, i just peaked through the photo, the orange colour engine bay remind me something
back few years ago, that was a orange satria (monster mod) in penang, number plate also Bxxxxx, got GTI kits as well. I was in a garage service my car, and this orange satria was looking for help. 2nd owner, young lad, looks mixed. The car intercooling pipe is the worst i ever seen, many many sections welded together, the intercoolor is so huge that i cover the whole radiator, and the car got cooling issue, water leaked. After a few month, the car is in another dealer.

I think the new owner done alot work to keep it "healthy" so far. no more hideous big intercooler

He mentioned engine endorsed 1.6. Not 2.0
So, you're hinting this Satria is the same one you saw years ago?

Seems quite good. But as usual, 4G92 MIVEC Satrias are cheaper than 4G93T or 4G63T Satria.
Well at least 4G92 MIVEC is similar to B16A VTEC but not as good yet. Almost.

Reaching 170hp, I think it's great ground to start with, it's cheap.
There are some work can be done to tune up the engine. Don't quite liking bolt on turbo thing.

Agree with you. NA engine should be left NA. Let the engine maintain it's own nature and characteristics. But can 4G92 MIVEC use RON 95 petrol or not? The compression is quite high.

since this car isnt everyday car, like we said, project car, 97 isnt a problem right?
