4G92 DOHC MIVEC wHP???

deacon: In the west, half the world shares your opinion... and the other half are die hard oem spec reliability believers.

cooljas: 9500 rpm is amazing for a 4G93P. :O
Well with adoption of the few familiar Type-R engineering techniques, good angled and bore intakes, well profiled (not necessarily huge) cams and very high compression you should be able to obtain those figures... plus maybe a few trade secrets that I dont know of lah. Its not impossible, but keep in mind that no matter what a 1.6 will be able to handle that 9500rpms easily and a lot more reliably than the 1.8... no doubt a well sorted 1.8 will be safe as well, but with those kinds of mods on a 1.6 you'll probably be touching 10,000rpms and above with ease; taking into account careful consideration on the measurements of the internals (at those rpms, even the conrods may lengthen slightly apparantly). Its just the laws of physics in engine designs with short vs long strokes.

Of course, this is all theory, and youre right... in reality a good mechanic may probably sort out everything for you with years and years of know-how. Besides, there are also ways to strenghten the block for it to run in extreme conditions in a safer manner like Posting between outer cyllinder and block walls. The typical mechanic who believes that engines designs are durable, that inconsistency doesnt matter too much, and that agak-agak will run safe will not succeed here.

My 2 cents =)

and yup i'd like to hear that engine at those kind of speeds! Gotta be addictive.

Zeroed,
Ya i understand with wat i did i might hit 10000rpm or more on a 1.6 block but pls remember tat my ride is a street car and i need to balance the hp n torque, if i were to use a 1.6 block n revving at 10000rpm tat will be a torqueless engine and its very diff for me to drive around daily!
That is y i choose a 1.8 block to play with.......

Hehe to each his own lah I guess.

Personally I prefer a torquey, low revving engine like a 4G63T for ease of driving.
But if I were to go for high revving with that budget I would go for an all-out 10000+ rpms from a small engine. For the tracks that would be sweet ass.

Wow man. Seeing you all sharing the high rev info really make me cannot sabar wait for my car to come out. The engine is still being upgraded a little before they can be fixed together. I got the cams from Matspeed and the head ported polished with enlarged throttle body and performance timing belt. I wonder what the HP I can expect. But I will be satisfied even with 160whp because last time my Waja is 1.6 auto. Hahaha. Sure lot's of difference...

guys..sory if this way out of the topic but why dont we see much of mivec-md on the road? is it bcoz there is not many of them or it is a failed creation of mitsubishi? please tell me if sumone knows about this coz i am considering to buy one..

Mivec MD didn't fail. My guess is that there aren't many of them around. When it comes to performance the parts on a MD aren't as power producing compared with regular Mivec.

I'm too sure on all the specs but a Mivec MD makes less power and has smaller cam durations (not to mention a smaller throttlebody as well).

170whp for 4G92 Mivec you must be having serious mods!

as stock i would probably think around 120-130whp

Should be around 150WHP, I am just guessin :P
But it depends on how high ur engine can output on stock first :)

Hi.

Is it really that low only for standard MIVEC? 120-130 whp? Is there performance difference between the Gen1 Mivec (for Wira) compared to Gen2 Mivec (for Waja)???

By the way, my car still not out yet because modify a lot of other things. Once it's ready, I'll get it properly tuned and dyno. Then I will share my dyno chart here. But as for the time being, anyone got a dyno chart to share already?

Yes its true. Mivec engines both gen 1 and 2 make around 136 at the wheel.

Personally saw a mivec gen 2 in a waja pull 136 at the wheel.

Here's my dyno chart.

i used to have 1.8 hybrid in my gti pumping approx 154whp many years back. i spent loads of money and one thing for sure anything beyond 150whp aint cheap to get.

I lost my dyno chart somewhere though - would be more than happy to post it up if i can get my hands on it.

I don mean to demotivate but, dont set the expectation too high if your engine is still stock. however rest assured, there's plenty of room to improve!

Very well said Chemical! May i know which dyno did u go to dyno to get the 154whp figure?

It's been ages, infact that kedai sudah tutup - the new shop is being replaced by Quartermile in sunway now. can't recall the name though - sorry am old already ;)

Is it DMT?wat u've got in ur mivec last time?share v us here lerz.....coz i know mivec wanna hit more than 150whp is very diff but a few ppl here always claim they bolt on mivec head n have a piggyback they r able to get more than 150whp...

I've got the dyno sheet to prove it. Do you have the dyno sheets to prove your claims?

0.4mm thin metal gasket, mivec inlet, mivec throttlebody, 1.8 block, plug cables and a 2.3 inch exhaust piping with 2.5 inch exhaust and SAFC

Thanks for sharing!

Oh.... your's a Waja? Very hard to find the 4G93 blok terbalik.... Great to know you have one... I wish I can find one too.... Or else, I planned to buy the Ford TX3 piston and Conrod/Stroker to make mine a 1.8....

By the way, my car still not out from the workshop, but would like to share my mods here:

Mivec 4G92 Dohc Mivec terbalik (1.6)
Ported Polished Head/Valve/Throat
Ported Matched Exhaust Manifold
2 layer Metal Gasket
Enlarged Throttle Body
Matspeed Racing Cam
Arospeed Adjustable Cam Pulley
Lightened Alauminium Crank Pulley
Slightly Lightened Flywheel
Customed Semi Racing Clutch
Mitsubishi Grade A 4G92 Timing Belt
Apexi Open Pod Filter
SPK 220L/H Fuel Pump
Modified Oil Pump
Arospeed Fuel Pressure Regulator
Greddy Emanage with Ignition
Denso Iridium (Heat Range 7)
NGK Power Cable for 4G92
Custom 2.2" Piping + 2.5" muffler

I dunno whether the mods above are stable or not. But that's what coming out soon and I dunno how much whp it can produce. I target 170 but if cannot achieve, I will make it a 1.8. :)

Anyway, it will still take a couple of days before my car is out. Then, will go to Links for full 1 hour 2wd tuning to match the emanage, ignition, cam pulley and the fuel pressure. Just pray my mods are stable..... Damn scared now....

Waja? No man i'm driving a Satria GTI.

Sounds like you could hit 160whp no problem. But then again that's just heresay. Do invite us out when you go dyno i would definitely be very interested in watching :)
