government should make the import car progress more transparent like force the company to reveal the actual import price of each car, taxes n cost of AP that can lead to the selling price instead of 100% markup.. AP or Kastam issues didnt really make our live in trouble, seriously, but i dun see any advantage when a country getting more serious corruption.. this thread just to show how corruption can make more billionaire.. it was just very irritating when u know how the way they earning money.. i doubt a impreza can only cost for rm20k to arrived at kastam..anyone know what the selling price at japan? spec c?

Well i kinda support Satria95 idea to discuss this whole issue thinggy rather than just bitch about this AP shitz. I think i had enough of this AP nonsense for the pass few days liao.

Well do check out the Star newspaper on Wednesday the 20th July, 2005... page 31 on the Comment section. I would like to draw your attention on one of the comment made by "Taxpayer" from Selangor entitle "Tender Aps and earn good revenue". It's really interesting to see how much the gov could have make from this APs rather than taxing us with the heavy fuel price.

I can't be certain whether this topic should be carried out here or in General Talk, so you guys decide on it ok. REmember guys, i believe this is just the start to weed out all those parasites.... there'll be more to come.

i agree with u & satria95, tat we shud discuss bout this instead of firing here & there for nothing. Tender APs is really a good idea, although there are also some "under table business" in SXXXXXXXE, but their goverment are strong, their citizens are working like hell but the goverment supports them in alot of ways like organizing training section, etc to enhance & rebuild their strength & knowledge in order to be more competitive in the global market. They are a small country with no nature source but we do, how come we cannot do better than them?
today we r talking bout this AP issue, tomorrow, our petrol price might increase again, but y? i think most of us read fr newspaper not long ago saying tat the profit for petrol for the first 3 months of 2005 is 485 billions, which is 142 billions more than the whole 2004. but how come goverment still saying they cant subsidise anymore due to the world petrol price increase, & its so obvious tat they r earning so much??? think back, isit something also like R.A. did, might b just some monopoly games among the few of them? who knows?

Finally... fuh~~ Anyway back to the issue here, can anyone clarify this whole AP thing and how it works? Izzit like, an AP for a company OR an AP for each car imported?? For example: Company A have a single AP to do the imports for as many cars as possible OR; Company A have 10 APs to import 10 different/same cars only?

If it's according to the latter then i think there isn't much of questioning to do rite. It's pretty darn obvious....get my drift..

Bought my mercedes a class from aussie at $30,000 australian dollar back in year 2000 with currency rate 2.1 that time. bring it back i have to pay $35,000 malaysian ringgit for AP student taxes... so overall the car price in ringgit around $95,000 malaysian ringgit ONLY... BRAND NEW.

Here the price of the merc a-class around $200k but now only $180k or so... hahaha cool ar..

Just malaysia government put tax so high up... almost everything is so expensive.. you wont be able to go out without spending $50bucks per day since now the new prime minister... bloody hell.. petrol price up 3 or 4 times since he got his ass in... everything almost all price he put up.. tol and all... darn it...

don't be so stupid lar. car outside is not that cheap lar... its only declared that cheap at the custom so the port tax on the car is not so expensive for the importer. Custom is just paper only, to just get thru. at the shop they still charge retails + tax + profit then become the price of what we know now. the problem is now that custom dunno the true value of the car, therefore the importer can declare any price on the car to reduce the port tax on the car, just to clear entry to malaysia.

remember the 100-300% tax is not imposed on the company. its impose on the selling price. so you and i pay for it not the company. the company only pays the port tax just bringing the car here.

K20AEK, u r right, we - buyer are paying for the tax, but for example, they declare impreza 20k, so after tax 100% also the car + duty become 40k only.

but selling now how much? 200k?? so the profit is 160k to cover for the container freight charge, AP holder, seller and maybe duit kopi also.... see how much they make???

Plus, if your declare the car value very low, like a STI for only 20k, your insurance premium for shipping also cheap.. for the company lar. some dare to take the risk. so basically, they are doing a favour for us. if they declare the true value of STI. kena true value of port tax ... guess who they going to back charge it to ...

i know its kinda hard to understand what i say. but try to think of it the company try to increase their margin of profit by reducing cost using customs weakness.

halo fren, when u import a car, you must have your AP (J.K. 69), invoice and K1 form ready, go register the docs with customs (u can do it online by EDI but still must show original AP to Kastam), when approved, u pay import tax and duti (100-300% depending on the cc of engine) to kastam.

duti & tax amount is based on CIFC value (car + insurance + freight cost) which will be shown on the K1 form prepared by your forwarding agent - then after the customs receive the duti $$, then only u are allowed to take the car out from the bonded area in PORT KLANG (or any other port) terminal, otherwise, the car will sit there,
