does any1 experience this?tik tik tik sound from the engine n its getting of my nerves lately....does any 1 has a cheap solution?thx ya...

No cheap solution as far as I know. It's a notorious issue with 4G63T. Only solution is to replace the hydraulic thingy.

yes,im turning deaf n grumpy lately....
bloody 16 lifter cost rm1.6k+
why damn mitsubishi don't use mechanical lifter???????isn't it perfect??

lucas oil stabilizer.is this snake oil?claimed can reduce tappet noise.rm100 per bottle

Snake oil, I thot only RC car uses it.. hehee... all these lube stuffs might work but it isn't long term solution. After some time, I believed the noise will be back.

Yes..... I can hear it... especially when cold. After it's hot, it's better.

Mine to. You can get MBL40 or MBL or what ever it's called helps. All mitsubishi do it, especially vr4 v6 engine too,. need to take out the tappets/ lifters under the cams and clean the small holes or replace with OEM or aftermarket larger ones. Nothing too serious if it's not too loud and goes quieter when hot.

It's noise from the HLA (hydraulic Lash Adjuster). You can try to service them/do bleeding/cleaning. There's a special mechanical tool that tests if a HLA is still in decent condition or not after cleaning them. Not sure if Mitsu SC here or any workshops have it. You usually need to use lighter engine oil like 5w40 or maybe even 5w30 to reduce the noise. Also do engine flush more regularly like every 15-20k kms. There used to be also a product from Wynn's that helped clean and silence the noise a bit when you add into the engine oil, but I don't know now if still got and where to buy.

The advantage of this is actually maintenance whereby you don't need to keep adjusting the valve clearance manually. If you do careful maintenance using good engine oil with the proper viscosity, the HLA will actually last quite long. Previously I owned 3 Mitsu before: 4G63, 4G67, and 4G93 across more than a decade and only once I needed to change the HLA and that was also during my very first ownership when I did not know much at that time.

I actually have opposite results from you on my 4G63T. I have been on 10w-60 5w-50 5w-40 and 5w-30 and 30 is the noisiest when engine becomes hot. 60 weight a bit heavy, so I use between 40 and 50 weight oil and is some how quieter....:driver:

Yup....same s bro vr so been sticking to 40...

im using shell semi 5l from tesco.i chg my oil almost 4k-5k.lately the freaking tik last longer...around 10min.normally 3-4min
bad sign perhaps...btw my 4g63t clocked at 260,000km
can low oil pressure b the culprit?
