whats the pros and cons of these engine system..
im searching for a satria at this moment..

inj. better power n FC... require ECU....
carb. old school... easy to tune...

usually people will go for inj. aka EFi engine la.... coz if got proper ECu, vr easy to tune... jz plug to a laptop can adi... no need open bonnet...

so, advice u go for EFI....

EFI hands down.

go to UK and u wont find anymore carb cars. same goes to japan and maybe s.korea.
the last proton cars to use carburettor in UK was the saga back in 1992.
when the iswara was introduced as the MPI (or Multi Point Injection), carb was a thing of the past due to tight EU emission control.

if ur planning to buy new satria, they only comes in EFI spec.

if ur planning to buy used satria, 1.3 satria EFI 1st came in 1998. price may differ a bit. the reason = this car got injection maaa...

advantage
1. almost perfect combustion all time.
2. self tuning all time (provided all filters in good condition).
3. can detect if got error.
4. very low maintenance
5. better consumption due to almost perfect combustion.
6. easy starting every time.
7. revs easily to redline.
8. easy to convert to turbo engine as the wire harness is already there..ekekekekekeke

disadvantage
1. one electrical problem like sensor spoilt or wiring short circuit, then car may not start at all...but of course its very unlikely..

plus ...lower emissions for today's standard

however, there are still high end carburetors that are on-par with efi. most for performance applications

yeah lozo..in terms of performance a well designed carb (example weber) maybe on par, maybe even better than EFI.

but carb never can beat EFI in terms of fuel consumption. difference may be little, but EFI is the more efficient.

Yeah, AI is best in memorizing and executing. :D Carbie just mechanically --> Vibrations and shocks will change it's settings in long run.

there is racing competition in japan that require carb and unchange bore and stroke if IM not wrong

carb is cheap but hard to tune like weber or rather malaysia all go for efi cause they are more expensive mean more profit and easier to tune

to compare

weber is around 800 and cheapest second hand stanalone ems is 4k

if you dont go high low altitude , efi is more efficient

if you are going for forced induction , efi is better

if you want fuel economy , carb is better

if you want raw performance , carb is better

if you want easy to maintaince , carb is better

so i support carb... maintainence cost less... dont need ecu... but what's an ems??... carbs need that??...

EMS = ECU = computer box

New set of twin Weber will cost u RM3K+ so not much cheaper from entry-level Microtech ECU.

Carb :
1. Easier to maintain
2. Cheaper
3. Good raw power if tuned properly

EFI :
1. Better fuel consumption
2. Cleaner exhaust
3. Good raw power, depending on how it's tuned
4. Better drivability than carb in various conditions eg going to Genting Highland, driving in cold midnight or hot afternoon, city driving involving low-RPM etc

I think production car equipped with carb only exists in Malaysia (Proton Iswara), the rest of the world had moved on to EFI since 1992-1994. However carb won't extinct very soon, probably only by 2020 it will become pupus hehe.

i think ems stands for engine management system. :D correct me if i am wrong.
