PP2 still in production? Not really...for Kelisa now got 2 types...one is fro Michelin and one is from Achilles...but just that Achilles one is not all rounder....on wet then have to slow down.

Looks like you will be using only that tyres then.......Yes, only for 165/55/14
Yup...stuck with it till it's end of production...wont get use to Achilles Economist I think Even though each is about RM100 cheaper. Save RM400 at least.Looks like you will be using only that tyres then.......
I was thinking, for better performance, things like tyre quality and thread pattern matters more than width and sidewall profile isn't it?Looks like you will be using only that tyres then.......

Tyre rubber compound is the first of the two major things. Soft compound grips better but wears faster, that is where your slick tyres starts from.I was thinking, for better performance, things like tyre quality and thread pattern matters more than width and sidewall profile isn't it?
Like 165/55/14 performance tyres VS something larger like 195/55/15 or 205/40/17 but normal/mid range tyres only...
Thanks a lot for the explanation. Appreciate it.K Sports lah! What Economist.......hahhahahhahahaha

Tyre rubber compound is the first of the two major things. Soft compound grips better but wears faster, that is where your slick tyres starts from.
Then the next major thing, the tyre pattern. This help channel water away so that the tyre rubber stays in contact with the surface. As long as there is contact there is grip. Once it floats (aquaplane) no more grip, so starts semi slicks.
Then road legal extreme tyres, with more pattern and slightly harder compound then slicks.
Then Max and UHP with even more pattern and slightly even harder compound for durability
Then mid range and entry level, etc.
You can see for hard compound tyres they have plenty of sipes. This is to help to soften the rubber. That is why certain tyres with sipes, works pretty well when new, and then deteriorates fast after the sipes strays to disappear.....
As for tyres size it is more for fitment. Small car cannot fit in large tyres, right?
Like bro. SF car on 165/55R14, can he fit 205/40R17 on?
Semi slick application more for track so they do not need much pattern as they normal used in the dry. Thanks a lot for the explanation. Appreciate it.
So this explains why semi slicks have less tyre thread pattern than normal tyres... But that is not the case for every tyres as I have noticed. Tyres like Pilot Sports 3 and Pilot Super Sport have normal looking thread pattern but they still perform very well... Tyre threads like in AD08R, R888, Direzza Z2 looks very different from normal ones...
His car can't fit 17" but 15" should be okay?
No wonder... I thought PSS is the top most in Michelin's lineup since supercars are using it... By the way, can you give some examples of full slick tyres? Want to see how they looked like.Semi slick application more for track so they do not need much pattern as they normal used in the dry.
PS3 and PSS looks like normal pattern because they are in Max and UHP category, whereas AD08R, Direzza Z2 are in extreme category and R888 is semi....
Yes, he can fit 15" with 165/50R15, but no point as still 165 width and tyres also limited choices, some more need to change rims.
When doing tyre upgrade is like 175/70R13 to 185/60R14 or to 195/50R15, this way the tyres gets wider for performance....
Oh sorry I mean ATR-K Economist...short of one K. Even cheaper than ATR-K Sports. The specs sounds good but really try it out time how good I not sure...might wanna try and see since is cheaper than PP2 but afraid will regret haha!K Sports lah! What Economist.......hahhahahhahahaha-
Ya, other than less options available, discomfort gonna be worse...Semi slick application more for track so they do not need much pattern as they normal used in the dry.

PSS is top of the line for daily drives. You don't expect super cars to be on slick and/or semi slicks. right? Michelin have extreme too, like Pilot Sports Cup and now Sports Cup2.No wonder... If 15" already, should just got for 195 size la? Doesn't sound right sticking to 165 size in 15". Or 195/50 is not low profile enough to avoid fender scrubbing in his car?
Try loh! If not good can play drift mah!.....hhahahhahahahaOh sorry I mean ATR-K Economist...short of one K. Even cheaper than ATR-K Sports. The specs sounds good but really try it out time how good I not sure...might wanna try and see since is cheaper than PP2 but afraid will regret haha!

I don't think I've seen any supercars with slick or semi slicks yet. However, max and extreme tyres like Direzza Z1 Star Spec, Federal 595 RSR and Toyo R1R I've seen before in old cars like Wira, old Civics...PSS is top of the line for daily drives. Full slick what pattern to see, just bald mah! Maybe some notches here and there that is all....
Take a look at Federal FZ101
That is why I mention fitment. for 165/55R14 can fit 165/50R15 and max is 175/50R15 only. 195 probably need like 40 or 35 series and probably no such sizes anyway....

That is why I mention for daily drive mah! If fit slick, rain time stay home ah!.....hahhahahhaI don't think I've seen any supercars with slick or semi slicks yet. Federal FZ101 really looks almost completely bald. But that wasn't legal for many competitions isn't it? I've heard many competitions only allow up to semi slicks.
Fitment for Kelisa seems very limited then since it is only up to 175 size... Smaller rim size have a rather narrow range of size combinations. I've seen various random sizes when it comes to 17", 18", 19". I think it can range from maybe around 205 to over 300.
I just searched for SP600. The thread looked almost the same with Bridgestone RE070R. So similar...That is why I mention for daily drive mah! If fit slick, rain time stay home ah!.....hahhahahha
Extreme in Evo X have. My friend standard tyre was the Dunlop SP600. He call me recommend what tyres to use as he cannot stand driving 80kph in the rain.....hahhahahhaa
FZ101 is full slick mah! It is bald, the notches you see are depth indicator. Once disappear means bald already. Full race slick have mah like F1 are back on slicks for dry...
Yup, the thread pattern look quite close....both also bad in the wetI just searched for SP600. The thread looked almost the same with Bridgestone RE070R. So similar...
Haha, that's why F1 can corner so fast and they need to change tyres as soon as it started raining.
Now I think R35 owners must be really irritated when it rains while they're driving halfway.Yup, the thread pattern look quite close....both also bad in the wet
Yah! F1 have even softer compound wet tyres.....
If try, is gonna last me another 2 years at least... Since the one I'm currently using already more than 2 years and can still go for another 20K Km then time to change...So is about 3 years using a good grip tyre haha!Try loh! If not good can play drift mah!.....hhahahhahahaha
That's why u only see normal cars speeding when is rainingNow I think R35 owners must be really irritated when it rains while they're driving halfway.
You mean wet tyres for F1 have softer compound than their dry tyres? F1 is like the pinnacle of automotive track races.
Yourself speeding is it? hahaThat's why u only see normal cars speeding when is raining

Yup, bro. SF kelisa and kancil can sort of speed faster in the rain with their 165 and 145 skinny tyres, no aquaplaning.....Yourself speeding is it? haha
Now this explains something. As I remember, 2 years ago where there are 2 R35 GT-R crashed at Kuantan. If my memory serves me right, it is reported that the road condition is wet or something like that.
I guess there is no balance between wet and dry tyres for F1. Decision to use which tyres and what time will certainly affect the final result of the race. That is why my friend in the Evo X changed his tyres....
F1 dry tyres are medium to hard, wet is with pattern and very soft compound. That is why once the rain stops and the track starts to dry they have to switch back to dry tyres, if not, they over heat and melt/wear faster.
I watch a race once, where part of the track had rain and the other part dry, so they have to seriously think what to use....hahhahha

Partly lah! but they were said to be racing with each other, so could be an all out affairs....
