Is having ABS better??? some say those using ABS are more prone to accident...coz they dun understand how ABS work.

ABS wont lock the tyre mahhh,so still hv grip to let u control abit....
with out abs if u jam u brake..teh car wheel locking will hand to angle lohh..bcs angle will big mahh n lost grip...
Haizz depend how u drive 1 lahhh....if normal drive degerous will less lohh..dont tail ppl so close is ok liao..

yeah. abs wont lock your wheels under hard breaking. its proven that rotating wheels provide better stopping power compared to non-moving tyres. and also with abs, you still have control of your car during hard breaking instead of just sliding forward.

my 2 cents are free..

the brake is better without abs...more bitting power...for me i disabled the abs...better braking but when cornering where can press brake...sure lost control ler...so press brake before cornering...ok?life without abs u will know and understand your car better...handling wise...dun always depend on abs...

I was wondering.. With ABS u can still control ur car while braking instead of sliding forward.
But if u're braking so hard already, was else can u do? You turn your wheel also ur car will slide and if do wrong later it spin.

How?

Haha only can do is wait lucky lorrr...
But when not yet hit anything we also need try save our car in best...need keyakinan...bcs u need think when u hit any thing u wallet n u life mayeb will .......!!!

if got abs, brembo or whateva good braking system..if you drive like a mad cow or no body business also no use lor with abs or brembo....cos if you drive fast....got good braking system also accident ler....

so got abs or without.......drive safe lor....hahahha....

at least there is the possibility that you can prevent a head on collision with say...a big ass truck?

This is what i know about ABS, i read it from the STAR n NST weekly car section.. this article was written by ppl who has PHD in automobil engineering..

The use of ABS is installed to prevent the wheels from locking up other intense braking or jam brake u might say... When the wheels are not lock free to roll, this will allow u to have some control over the direction of the car and allow u to swurf out of danger(like big big lorry infront)..

Where else without ABS.. when u hit ur brakes that hard ur wheels lock up as a u wouldn't be able to steer ur car as the car would slide towards the the original path of motion which is going straight.. and hence if there is a big big lorry u will kiss it nicely..

As for braking distance, i remember reading it saying that cars with ABS does not have a shorter stoping distance.. actually it has a longer stoping distance compare to car's without abs.. this is because cars with ABS would take a rather longer time b4 the wheels come to a full stop, where else cars without ABS would have the wheels lock immediatly and if the grip of tryes is good, u will be able to stop faster

This can be seen in formula1... cars there do not use abs once they lock their brakes u see what happen.. they just cannot manover their car.. hope this helps ya question and if i'm wrong feel free 2 correct.. haha

i only prefer 2nd generation latest sports ABS which can be turn off and on...

old abs i dun want

last time one forummer here tembak me say ABS can have shorter
stopping distance wor.......*smack forehead*

ABS only prevent..but cannot shorten the stopping distance...

What u mean without abs also jadi?... hehehe.. dun get u

human ABS will do if no money buy car wif ABS/install ABS... :D

My car doesn't have abs, and its just a matter of getting use to it.. anyway if u are driving safely keeping a safe distance it isn't too bad.. my mum's car does have abs.. too much there no difference also.. hehehe... just a matter of getting use... haven't got into a thight situation with both cars.. so i won't know.. hehe

For a flat ideal road, where everything is predictable, if a driver does not lock-up his wheels, the car has the same braking characteristics as a similar model without ABS.

If he slams on the pedal, activates the ABS, he might have a slightly longer braking distance, but i doubt it is MUCH longer.

How many of us dare to claim that we are so good to keep the tyre near the limit so consistently? Even in unfavourable conditions?

Lets throw in some variables to the equation.

Lets assume you are speeding down your fav road, doing maximum braking preparing yourself for the corner ahead. Suddenly, you see a makcik in the middle of the lane, directly ahead of you.

Most of the time, drivers will press harder and lock their wheels, and the makcik goes.

If not, you can try to steer, and the resultant weight-shift and direction change will reduce grip on the inner tyres, and you get a lockup inside. You can either choose to release the pedal, waiting for the tyres to regain traction to steer, or you can choose to start tapping of the brakes, hoping for the best.

Or you use your super driving skills and release brake pressure and steer, avoiding the auntie, and since the braking effort is decreased, you couldn't slowdown enough and hence, bond with the wall/divider.

Or, lady luck is on your side, superman comes and saves the auntie and you.

Who is willing to take this risk??

Now, everything can be better with abs. You get to steer away safely, and the auntie survives, all without the help of superman. You do not need to think what to do, just pray and turn the steering to your desired direction.

Now, imagine, one wheel gets into an oil puddle.
With you "human-ABS" you need to release pressure to let that wheel regain traction.
With ABS, just keep your food on the brake pedal and smile, like this>>>:D

Tell me, how high are your chances to correct your situation better and faster compared to a computer?

Therefore, IMHO, in a road car, ABS is one hell of a safety feature, and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't grant permission to sell cars without ABS in other countries soon.

The myth that people have more accidents might be due to the fact that they released the pedal when they felt the pulsing. A lot a people who are not aware of the system would normally react that way.
Older drivers would use back their "human-ABS" and confuse the system.
That's why we NEED to read the instruction manual!!!

Last but not least, if raikonen had abs, he might have won the last GP:mad:
