Guys,

Any owner over here? Prefer 318 & 320.
How is the maintenance fee? Reliable?
Appreciate is can share experiance with me.
Thanks in advance.:adore:

BMWs are one of the best cars in the world, if you can afford the maintenance on them it shouldnt be a problem.

Used to have a E34 318i for 5 years, nice comfortable car to cruise in until things started to wear down. Parts are not cheap.

You need a good and inexspensive mechanic you trust to babysit cause they tend to need it after the 5th year.

bro 5115,

I know u are run with BMW:biggrin:
can share more with us?

erm...i think many info were stated in the link i posted up there.what else u wanna know?about 318?320?325?328?

0-100km/h?top speed?parts price?

spare part price and fuel consumption, very interest.. as I had been hear a lot of rumous that spare part for BMW is very very expensive.
BMW = Burn My Wallet.:biggrin:

Btw, local 318 is it have DOHC version?

new parts for bmw is expensive,so does other conti cars...

local 318 does not equipped with M42 DOHC,only M40 (timing belt) & M43 (timing chain) available for local e36

So, it mean only SOHC 8V version in 318 right?
output only 115ps, seem like a bit under power...

bmw's is a good car to buy. i actually owned a bmw e36 318 manual 1992 before changing to a 525 e34 manual. spare parts is not hard to find for e36. frankly speaking it cheaper than to own a satria 1.6 auto or a perdana ( from my experience ). you will never regret it. come to our bimmersclub teh tarik session this friday at taman tun wet market car park @ 2130 and you can question us from head to toe about BMWs. you can also see our members ride. bear in mind that you dont have to own a bimmer too join us. frankly speaking, its not how fast your car can go but its how fast you can drive.:driver:

sure bro i will.

Yes.. Beemer parts are expensive... event the smallest parts as well are expensive... but i do not doubt the quality n reliability of the car... Even the parts are expensive they last longer than the Malaysian n Japanese Cars...

the problem when ppl buy used BMW... it should have come time to replace this n that.. thats y u feel it is expensive... but if you buy new ones straight from factory will last you almost 8-10years easily without major repairs.. If you want a beemer.. I recomend getting those with a Vanos..

Between a 318i and 320i (actually rare in malaysia), its a 4 potter vs 6 potter, which translates to quite a big difference (maintenance, fuel con, performance, specs).

The one easier to maintain is the 4 potter 318i. But i'd recommend you get one with the m43 engine rather then the a bit more problematic m40. The m43 is a newer engine, uses a timing chain and has fixed some of the problems the m40 had. The m43 comes in 96' and above e36s, if i'm not mistaken and the interior specs are also higher with digital aircond and so on....

But, if money was not so much of an issue and you want to feel what a proper BMW feels like, get a 6 cylinder one (325i, 328i). Engines are wonderfully smooth...
