how to do the light slowly off?
now new car normally got this type of light for door light le..
may any 1 know how to do that v diy?

Go to car spare part shop look for timer relay. timer relay have 2 type, 1 type is the light will on for few second and dimm off slowly like mercedes and another type is the light will on for few second then will dimm off directly like myvi.

don't install those dimmers/relays...They would put weight penalty to the car, like 20 grams....would effect car's pickup and performance . HAHAHAHAHAH!!! just kidding la...

Cap won't work for typical 10W cabin bulb, unless u use very huge Cap which doesn't sound practical and high risk. Use transistor(s), a couple of resistors and uF Caps shld be able to build one. Do a search in web with the words like "dimmer" and "fading cabin light" for some simple circuits.

Hi guys, newbie here.

For those dimmers, more than resistor or timer is required. It will require the circuit as below...

I'm in the midst of planning for a dimmer as well. So I did some search and this is the diagram that I found.

Cheers!

haha, u got exactly the circuit that i hv built. But i mod it with other power transistor and slightly diff design as my 1st attempt in this circuit didn't work out (light off immediately instead of slowly dim).
BTW, 2N3055 is not a good choice bcoz its metal body itself is the Collector that conducts 12V, kind of dangerous that it may short-circuit to car chassis. Don't think of insulating it as it will run hot and suppose to be fixed on to heat sink. Use TIP41C, it's a TO220 package (partially plastic) and much smaller than 2N3055...easier to fit into cabin light's casing.

ok.. it might not need a rocket scientist 2 know d diagram above.. but ... err... cant really understand d diagram....hehe.... pai sei pai sei.. any pic of actually unit?

if really no way to diy urself, then go to proton/spare part shop to buy the module used in tiara.....tell them the module for tiara room light..they will know it.. :>

how much for tiara dome light module? if price reasonable, i may just buy one instead of DIY. Thanks

Tried in local sparepart shop... They don't have those tiara light dimmer module in store. I think they don't even know it existed! LOL!

Anyway, found out that if DIY those parts only cost less than RM10! So DIY is the way to go I guess?

alternatively, try scavenge the parts in kreta potong yards.....I doubt the worker there know what dimmer is.....

BTW, any one know where the dimmer should be located in luxurious car?
