Pros and cons of engine braking?

Whenever i apply heel and toe, it felt good. Of course there were bad ones but I continued to adjust and got immersed into understanding the pedals. I applied it all the time. I do when there are friends in the car with me so I needed to be extra smooth.

Today, heel and toe to me would be like using chopsticks or swimming. There's no reason I can't do a smooth execution everytime. It is a skill that I'll never forget but is one that can continue to be perfected

So, do continue exploring guys

You serious ah? Heel and toe in town driving......lol:biggrin:

Yeah. I mean, you do need to brake and downshift even in town driving. May be a bit difficult to pull it out in city area driving but possible throughout many places in Ipoh. The range of rev matching in town is around 2-3k rpm. Like braking from around 60kmh at 3rd or 4th gear.

Tom stated earlier in this thread that he applied it all the time.

Tom considered HT grand master dy......lol:biggrin:

Aikkk....lol
Later I in wanted list by jpj....if do ht in streets.

If you are driving above 50kmh, possible to do it. Anything under that, difficult because normally the revs are not even over 2500rpm. Rev matching is difficult.

Tom considered HT grand master dy......lol:biggrin:

Got professionally recorded video, of course he is.

How about you? Have you tried it before or you are also another master in HT?

unless got clear road. Now want to do fast corner also got 2-3 car ahead.
wehhh...u question uncle VR:rofl:

If is inside areas like George Town, I think can't really do it. Same goes for area like PJ where there is a lot of stop and go traffic...

In Ipoh, most of the roads are long and clear, so there are a lot of places to practice it. Except when I enter into Ipoh old town area or city centre, then probably can't do it.

Hahaha, just asking around.

u can do it anywhere...actually many traffic light is the better place to practice HnT for stopping..just at relaxed pace.... :driver:

Need to master rev matching very well because during such situations, the differences between revs are probably around 500rpm. A very light jab on the throttle pedal will do.

Here you go Tom. Recorded this today. Did not upload it at full resolution. Was recorded with my phone which isn't anything great. Sorry about the video quality.

Thanks for the video renesis

from what I can gather with my macbook speakers, 1:26 looks like a perfect downshift to 2nd gear, although the 3rd and 4th gear prior to that, i noticed there was a delayed clutch release, therefore the drop in revs. looks like you're pretty much there, more practice and you'd be more perfect

You're welcome. Yes, there are times where my clutch release is delayed slightly. I need to work on that timing. Also sometimes when I feel the air condioner compressor kicking in, the revs are sometimes not high enough for a perfect match when I jab the throttle. I switched off the air conditioner when I recorded this video for easier rev matching.

Now, I continuously practice it all the time when I drive. Thanks for your comment and time for watching the video, Tom.
