For my whole Life I will remember the incident that I been "rejected" by Proton Salesmen when I want to book my first car Proton Wira in 1995 with 5,000 cash in hand....with the reasons overbooking...need extra table money .Perodua Salesmen will u treats customer like that....when book for MYVI?
No regret today I feel proud to had Japanese models Nissan Sentra and Toyota Camry in my house and my niece goes for MYVI & Kelisa, my Uncles goes for Honda Stream & Accord, my brother in laws goes for Naza Sorento and ISUZU D-MAX.

Which is exactly what i told my friend few weeks back. He told me he wants to book Myvi but the waiting list is like some 6 to 8 months. But the salesman told him if he wants it quick, can give some under table money. I told my friend if i were him, i would tell the salesman to fly kite and cancel the booking altogether.

Frankly, i can assure you that under table money is for the own company extra income itself. What they do is every week they probably receive like 10 new cars. So those who stupidly paid up the under table money gets the cars in priority over those who did not although these guys paid first. Thats why you see waiting list of over 8 months to 1 year at worst.

Thats the problem! A classic Malaysian example of queue cutting, often seen in traffic lights and junctions too.

wahhah.. congrat
no doubt.... myvi toyota nice look car!!!
summore d size also bigger n wider among all perodua

Agree with SilverIkan. The thing with Proton is they're like the frogs under the well, launching Gen2 and confuse buyers when they have Waja, and launching Savvy later than Myvi, launching Satri Neo when two door hatchbacks were no longer the black...... and oh....... launching Chancellor when no one would need such a car.

I do think Proton can still hold on to Waja (Sunroof, MP3, Airbags, ABS please. +2.0 V6 engine)

It would be also splendid if Proton could launch a Perdana replacement model using Mitsubishi Galant's new platform and sell it at RM2k above Vios. That would be a good kick.

talking about rejection, i do recall there were once i wanna test drive Gen2, Proton sales office told me to fill up form, they will call me back once they have test drive session.. bla bla bla, I did fill up the form but i never receive any call from Proton.

Went to Perodua, Honda, Toyota to test drive Myvi, City, Civic, Vios, no problem at all,I'm on the road test driving the car few mins after I raise request at counter.

Volvo even better, they will take the initiative, send invitation card to invite you for test drive once Volvo launch new model.

Customer service is another screw up part Proton have.

They have shit workers, thats why you guys think they have bad service. They should have done some training with these car sales person and teach them to be corteous when handling customers. They need to learn a lot from Audi, Volvo, Alfa and Benz. I've been to these showrooms and by looking at me, they definitely know i cannot afford an Audi but they're still very corteous by talking to me about the car and explaining stuff.

prodigy, they can see beyond ur appearance. they knw u r billionaire-in-disguise. that's why they explain to u

Hah, if only i am.

But then the Audi salesman once told me that no matter who it is, anyone that walks into their showroom are treated as potential customer. That is what you call service. Proton fails to do that simply because they never do any dealership training. You have people saying the wrong thing to the wrong people.

Proton lose to Perodua for the number 1 sit .....

they have reduce the production cause neo is not sell well ...as well as their 4 quarter forecast is reduce too...

another model fail...after Tiara, Juara, Areana..sawi...."Neo"...

myvi is getting more and more order....

This is a classic example of viral marketing, the good thing about it is that they leaved a desirable impression and hence whoever that had in contact with them will 'help' spread the words far out. The thing with salesmen of Proton, partly yes, they were'nt trained at all, and secondly, its the mentality of the overall corporation that 'allows' them such wrong doings.

I remembered going to a Proton dealer along OKR at the first day of launch of the Satria Neo. The gear knob was taken off and when i enquire, the salesmen told me you can also switch gear without the gear knob..... then i asked whether its timing chain or timing belt... that bugger told me its a new car, hence new cars runs using electronics, no need belt..... LoL~ i looked at him and told him, "you better learn more of what you are selling before telling grandmother stories to people." and after he kneel down to check whether the rear brakes are drum or discs, i turned my back and went off to another one where eventually i get to test drive abit..... without filling in any forms.... ha~ good luck to that so called salesmen..... its better if he's selling VCDs.....

oops.... i'm ingolstadt .. didn't notice my friend's pc had auto login. :)

hehe...bro i the info i have is from insider....can't tell what is the main point slow down...

time will tell ....!!!!

even i got the news i got shock....

hope proton improve from design, performance, safety.....and well train...sales staff...as well as after sales ..customer feedback.....:X-:

SNEO is a pretty good car. The quality has indeed risen significantly. and as silverfish bro said, too bad it is 2-doored... if they put the same effort into a 4-doored sedan... it will definitely a big hit.. i will put my money on that... hehe... but as of now, i must say that Perodua deserve it... their quality is always something that is better than Proton... hope these 2 makers will keep on competing and improve even more for the benefits of consumers like us... hehehe...

One question though.

How hard can it be to apply platform sharing? Seriously, how hard can it be as compared to developing a new car mostly from the ground up?

Are Proton even looking up this avenue? I mean, having a small domestic market, this is one of the most effective ways for them to achieve better economy of scale.

For a start they can have all the small to mid sized cars based on one platform, lets say the S Neo or the Gen 2. You can have your small family saloon, your small hatchback and even a 2 door coupe. Obviously the S Neo and Gen 2 aren't the best in terms of maximisig space, but it is a start. Or they could use the Waja, which has decent interior space.

Just a thought.

BTW, I'm actually dissapointed that Proton did not develop the Campro engine to support a bigger displacement range. They should have made it at least be able to stretch to 1.8 and even 2.0 (but at least 1.8). Otherwise it is again a waste because you've got to develop another engine for the higher displacement needs.
