brader... you can't tap the wire @ the car/door lamp, the power are too small. below is a simple diagram:
Power to amp
----------------
car battery +ve terminal ---> (at least 6 inches from the battery) fuse box ---> amp positive terminal
amp ground terminal ---> body of car
Now this is to supply power to the amp and you must complete the cycle by grounding the amp. The fuse box is to protect your amp in case of any short curcuit.
Head unit to amp
--------------------
remote wire (usually it's yellow in color - pls check your head unit manual) ---> remote terminal at the amp
head unit RCA output ---> amp RCA input
Remote wire will switch on and off your amp - it follows your head unit. If you do not connect the remote wire your amp will be switched on 24/7.
RCA are the big cable (usually colored red & white). These cables are in a pair and the head (connection) of the cable are as the same you connect your VCD/DVD player to your TV at home.
Amp to speakers
--------------------
Right +ve speaker terminal on the amp ---> Right speakers +ve terminal
vice versa for left.
I don't know how to explain this, this is pure basic.
Power and remote together? bad idea... :P ;)
