Guys...

Why my car FC is not good. 1 litre can go only 10.5 KM or RM 10 is about 55KM. How to settle this problem ya...any recommendation? im using civic ej6 1.6 SOHC VTEC (Auto). Normally like 14KM per litre rite.

Thanks

just try to drive slow next time..accelerate slowly...mine b16a consume about 50km-70km for rm 10 based on my driving style...and try to use air cond only when necessary...if still not help..mybe u gotta go tuning ur car engine and do a regular engine service in engine oil, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs...

well thats an afterthought settled..i thought my B16A consumption of 65km per RM10 was off the mark. Seeing what Mr.Cam is getting, I reckon my car is doing ok.
Any thoughts on this
90Kmph- XXXX RPM
110Kmph-XXXX RPM
Well this comparisons is only for the stock standard B16A engines out there.
Cheers

Do note that this numbers are on 195/55/R15 tires.. it will be slightly different if you are running different sized tires like 205/50R15.. that's why you lose acceleration by using extremely big rims, not because of it's weight alone, but because you just made your final drive higher (in an indirect way).

If b series on Y21 gearbox and those with final drive and gear ratios that are 'seangkatan dengannya'. which is 0.848 5th gear, and 4.4 final drive.

90kmh is around 3K rpm at 5th gear.
110kmh is slightly higher than 3.5K rpm at 5th gear.. around 3.5-4k rpm.

If b series on ITR g/box with 5th gear at .785, and final drive of 4.785,
90kmh is around 3K,
110 is also between 3.5 to 4K.

Same also with the YS1 CRX g/box, with the 5th at .880, and final drive of 4.266.

Well.. don't argue with honda engineers.. they really thought things through when they made the 5th gear.. different ratios, but the engine spins just about the same.

I did the gear speed calc already, and posted somewhere in ZTH.. (Search, if you want) and I'm sure if you tested in real life conditions, I'm sure you won't find more than 2-3% deviation (unless you run your tires with a lot less or a lot more pressure, since it changes the circumference a bit.. and those 1-10mm difference will add up once you spin the tires past 1000 rotations per minute.

shiro...why b series final drive 4.785 same with da 4.4 at 90-110kmh for their rpm..?i think 4.785 shud be higher rpm than 4.4 at same speed isit...correct me if i'm wrong..TQ!

hurm..mine RM 10 can only go to 40K++(town driving) and 60++ ( highway )

mine is more teruk la..

Start and stop on cars is heavy on fuel consumption with no regards to a screaming VTEC going by especially for town driving. Agreed with Mr. Shiro on tyre choices and rim sizes.

Mr.Shiro,

Could you explain on the final drive issue...makes a damn good subject....

shiro is correct, final drive won't affect the rpm. try to check on the gear calculator.

FC depends onda drivers foot n da tuning... for my sohc turbo, i could get 70km for rm10... depends on my foot la, n da weather... air temp is important 2...

can you describe what has been done to your car i.e. ice, rims performance mods etc?

what is your running condition? % highway & % of city drive

usually fc can suffer simply by weight addition. usually driving at night gives better mileage as cooler air will have slightly higher oxygen densities

is your car in tune? i.e. oil filters, lub oil, trans oil, timing etc. Have you done total overhaul for the 100000km? how's the state of the o2 sensor?

you see? there are many factors affecting mileage.

But then again 10km/l is the bare minimum acceptable. anything less than that means time for serious check up.
