well thats an afterthought settled..i thought my B16A consumption of 65km per RM10 was off the mark. Seeing what Mr.Cam is getting, I reckon my car is doing ok.
Any thoughts on this
90Kmph- XXXX RPM
110Kmph-XXXX RPM
Well this comparisons is only for the stock standard B16A engines out there.
Cheers
Do note that this numbers are on 195/55/R15 tires.. it will be slightly different if you are running different sized tires like 205/50R15.. that's why you lose acceleration by using extremely big rims, not because of it's weight alone, but because you just made your final drive higher (in an indirect way).
If b series on Y21 gearbox and those with final drive and gear ratios that are 'seangkatan dengannya'. which is 0.848 5th gear, and 4.4 final drive.
90kmh is around 3K rpm at 5th gear.
110kmh is slightly higher than 3.5K rpm at 5th gear.. around 3.5-4k rpm.
If b series on ITR g/box with 5th gear at .785, and final drive of 4.785,
90kmh is around 3K,
110 is also between 3.5 to 4K.
Same also with the YS1 CRX g/box, with the 5th at .880, and final drive of 4.266.
90kmh is around 3K,
110 is also between 3.5 to 4K.
Well.. don't argue with honda engineers.. they really thought things through when they made the 5th gear.. different ratios, but the engine spins just about the same.
I did the gear speed calc already, and posted somewhere in ZTH.. (Search, if you want) and I'm sure if you tested in real life conditions, I'm sure you won't find more than 2-3% deviation (unless you run your tires with a lot less or a lot more pressure, since it changes the circumference a bit.. and those 1-10mm difference will add up once you spin the tires past 1000 rotations per minute.
