A32 ..Need Advise urgently

Wat brand and how much ? Is it reliable ?

Bump: For afm & manifold , i'd try my luck with the chop shop. They r half the price and i don't think the your problem r related to the manifold as they r made of harden material . If they leak it would only be the 'gasket' which is sandwiched between the cylinder head and the manifold.

I've changed the downpipe about 1 year ago. Increased performance? Yes!!. Stop knocking sound?? Duh?. Nothing to do with that. But you would hear a v6 rumble sound when the RPM is between 1 - 2.5K. Maybe the rumbling sound would drown ur knocking sound, heheh..

Here's a pic of it.

that also effected? how much u replace?

Dear sifu's & Guru's

Thanks for all the info....im getting :confused:now.....What are the symptom's if your afm is out??

Engine will be coughing(catching for breath) and then stall. U can't go far though.

hmm.... y must change downpipe? Is it change to direct from manifold? Do u know where can i tuning my engine since i felt is less power?[/quote]Coz our ori downpipe has 2 pre-cats on it. Over the years , if your engine tuning is out of range it will soak up the pre-cat. This would partially block exhaust gas from exiting it smoothly, thus poor performance. For V-6 engine we dont need to change the whole exhaust manifold(extractor) in order to free up some hidden horses. Changing to a good downpipe will be adequate.

There is nothing much to tune for our cars except for the following :-

- Downpipe & exhaust system.

- Freeflow filter (eg; K&N, HKS, Apexi)

- Iridium spark plugs.

- New Coilpacks.

- New O2 sensor/s

- larger throttle body (polished).

If u want to go further , u would need someone who can re-chip ur ecu or reprogram it .
You can also install the Apexi SAFC, so that u can adjust ur air/fuel mixture for best power and performance but it won't be a walk in the park. Its very time consuming to set it to a perfect state of tune. I would not want to go to that 'area' unless i have lots of time to spend on my car.

U can also buy a programmable ECU from performance shop which will cost u a bomb. They will have some 'specialise technician' to tune ur engine properly.

Good luck!

A bad day for me....Got stuck at penang bridge from 0700am- 0900..am...Then my engine dies off just after getting down from the bridge...Same old problem..AFM....But this time its worst cant engage gear to " D"...shit...u engage to "D" it just dies off....Can't do much..call up my friend from TC, Bukit tengah. He brought an AFM with him ( second hand) to test out. Finally after swap everything was back to normal....but now...the knocking sound become worst:banghead: when accelerate...shit..There must be some link between AFM and the Knocking sound coz my previous AFM does not produce that amount of sound compare to this. Saturday, need to go and hunt again for another good AFM.:driver:

First time happened..after 4yrs..:smokin:.
Aiyaah, VQs is like that wanlah after certain years, all the electrics/electronics gremlins will come and disturb. Sometimes its very frustrating when u r in a hurry and depend on your car for 'cari makan'.

Another word of advice , if it ain't broken don't change it (very suitable for this engine), coz sometimes changing any parts will make the condition worst. Just my 2 cents.

:banghead:

Yup..U are rite Sb...I change a new set's of plug and a new petrol filter 2days back at tc...coz the same old prob occur again (eventhough the afm have been changed)..engine dies off sometimes. Check through but no error code detected, so my mechanic said try an error...change new set of plug's and petrol filter...:banghead:..so far engine havent dies off ( its been 2 days)...Just run for another week and see...

Sometimes the code reader or the consult thingy cannot detect the error coz its not the sensor but some lose wiring. Have u ever tried adjusting the TPS (located at the throttle body). Some times it could be out of adjustment. (It is like a resister). Ask your mech to unplug the harness and test the resistant while moving the throttle . At anytime the meter shouldn't read a -1 reading.
