Wastegate Explained.

HAHA!! Relax la SDF !!
Sometimes I do understand..but..sometimes not....maybe I am confuse with some picture with custom for wastegate...what i know is... for those ppl who install their wastegate...they done it before the turbocharger right ?

at any channel before the turbine fin, to be precise. To be easy, go to Jian Hang/Ah Heng/Ijal. They'll know wad to do.

Unless u wanna do it urself. Muahahahaha....

Haha !! ok bro...better follow what they all had done...before turbine fin...and...
I damn scare later find those ah mao ah kao..make my engine bomb...Thanks ! again !!

if your boost too hi or timing too hi and fuel too lean only will make your engine blow~

Just want to clarify on 6A12TT engine. It has 2 TD02 turbine. So there should be 2 wastegates rite? each for each manifold? If I just want 0.7 Bar in the combustion chamber, so each wastegate will have limit of 0.35 Bar each?

nope... u still need 0.7 bar each.. cause it's the compressed line that controls the wastegate actuation valve...

So, basically, when ur compression that acts to open the valve. So, when ur comrpession pressure reaches 0.7 bar, it'll push both the wastegate valve open to release the excess exhaust to the wastepipe/screampipe/external downpipe...

Okeh got it. If I have future plan of using a electronic boost controller, I should not buy the wastegate that with spring equipped rite? since the spring one acts mechanically and the electronic one use solenoid control. Is this rite? Or I can still use the spring wastegate coupled with electronic boost controller module?

On the other hand I read about turbine with hydrodynamic oil bearing and ball bearing. Which one is service for life?

If u now using 0.7bar spring... next future wanna high boost..can get a boost controller...
External Wastegate : The purpose is to have a more stable and reliable boost...even at low boost.. for certain engines with very big capacity..there is a huge amount of exhaust pressure running thru the manifolds towards the turbine inlet, hence there is a chance the internal wastegate flap might not be strong enough to hold the pressure.

Turbo Ball bearing service need a lot of cost to service...

true on ball bearing BUT it also lasts up to 3 times over conventional journal bearing turbos and take up to 3 times the thrust.

long term.. it's money well spent..

SDF Taiko.. I am using GT25 actually ..same size as td04... and when I boost 0.6bar....During dyno..It show when above 6k rpm (LIFT Open) to 7.8k rpm !! THE POWER DROP !!OUT OF BREATH !! What happen ??Is it the turbo too fxxking small..?? This turbo spool around 2k++ to 5k rpm..feel syok...but above 6k..... :banghead:
And the next problem is...the boost drop to 0.4bar after 4k rpm to redline...
Hope can help...:help:

geez..u must think i'm GOD..

GT25 has various specs and different turbine a/r and is yours new or old and what is your engine spec and what ecu you using and etc etc....

without more precise and clear info..how am i to try and help you out VSB...

Hehe..I'm think that you are the turbo expert .. "GOD" can say so
Hmm...need so much infor meh ?
Oh ya..SDF...those people using small turbo ... they will lose power at high rev right ?
Because I just bought Turbo T28 BB ...hope can bring me power to red line.

like wad the Sufi has explained... Hydrodynamic foil bearing(aka journal bearing) turbo is just application of oil with a certain pressure on the shaft to float the shaft in the middle of the bush/journal bearing. Still slot of friction... Nut brass bush is cheap.

But if u Abuse the turbo, Amy turbo would be costly to maintain.

Different turbo would react differently in the same engine. Same turbo will react differently in different engine. Same turbo will also react differently I. The same engine with different set up. In conclusion, there's too less infomation to guesstimate the characteristic...

But based on ur description it sounds like the turbo is coughing... Sign of chocking. Send to tong GAO GAO hui... Convert it to gt28.

To sifu sdf, can pm me the estimated price for the potatoe???

well..i last checked and i ain't god.. haha.. and even someone called me an amateur.. so i've been trying to lay off n lie low..

anyway.. i assume your T28BB is used ?
and let's put it this way.. you can try to be a greedy fella..but truth is.. you can't have everything ! don't expect full boost @ 2k rpm and bring you all the way to 7k rpm...

as S2H said..opt for GT28.. flows better between 4-7k rpm..

Taiko :) You know how much the cost for T28 Ball Bearing converter to GT28RS ??
What I know is... the both this turbo...just the fin different

ok..i try install it..and hope it spool early than that ...

Gt28rs is different compressor housing... Mana sama. If u say the normal gt2860 can la...

get gt3076 lar use ar.82 turbine housing i sure your 1.8cc engine power band can reach 9k rpm,lol

Haha!! 9k rpm ? my rpm meter max only 8k
I think this turbo T28 BB is enough for unbuilt engine...
If next future..wanna rebuilt engine..only aim for other turbo ~

GT30??? Spools in at 3.7K-5K all the way to 10krpm...

thought u rebuilt ur engine jor..?

Havent ler...that why get a T28 play play first
Next future when I rebuilt engine...only Aim for BIG TURBO...
Taiko ... the S15 spec R original is 223 whp with 0.8 bar...??
Coz... I just recheck the hypertune...saw one s15 tune by Onward Motorsport...
stock is 223whp and after 1.1bar..can get 257whp :)
I hope my car 0.5/0.6bar can get above 200whp...
SDF..you are right... I am such a greedy guy :thefinger:

greedy guy?u still cant say your self is greed man,my self also not dare to say greedy but u ~
