Choice of Project Car

I really wanna know how the community reaction for low budget project car
After over 30 pages, we still hanging around c99, satria thing.

Then, how many of us willingly spend cash on toy that can't go on road.

As far as I can see, Malaysians have too much commitment in life, especially loan, debt and mortgage

Bro. Crazyee,
I think wrong wave length only. How many of us have your ability to design a chassis. I think many of us here have learned from tuners and mechanic and we are just sharing some knowledge here.
Having said that, the best we can do is to mod something that is existing, thus the C99 and Satria. C99 being one of the best and probably Satria small and easy to mod, plenty of parts and so on...my 2 sens on this. Old Unker withourt any technical qualification....

I think most malaysians just have too much obligations and are practical. Who'd be willing to pay money for a car that has to be towed and can only be driven on track? I would but obligations have stopped me from randomly spending my money like that.

You may dont have this ability now, but nothing should stop u learning
Everyone learn everything the same way.

I do agree c99 and satria have potential. But it won't be my option. Instead I'm very interested on satria.
Many wira out there been trying too hard to be evo'ish, 4g63t and etc.... But often realibility let them down.

I shall share some of my chassis thing later.

Actually, I think we started with misconception about chassis. We are living in monocoque chassis for too long, often forget about tubular space frame. Carbon monoque is something to wish for.

Yes and no.

It's our living style cause this. That's why Asia is a great real estate playground.

A lot people love to fit in to the game, and let the game kill them.

Just like those VAG phenomena.

Driving a polo hatchback is like owning all sub 100k cars. In fact, the car was designed for 18 years new license holder back uk.

benz E class can be Hire car as well.

I mean look at Polo, it was one of the most basic in the line up
it meant to compete with Fiesta, just about of tax, price different is huge

end of the day, it's small basic car.

engine mount and some brackets are still missing. Work started to pile up, dont have time to spend with it yet. Hopefully by next year this time, i'm constructing it already.

next stage will be suspension design. then powertrain setup design

true...especially with the rate of inflation, our wages can't catch up and the truth is a lot of us are getting poorer (real wage decreasing). unless you are one of the elite/high flyers or born with a silver spoon, this is something that the common folks will think about last. haha

so dude, you are going to build the car you design and how do you reckon that you drive it? tow to track and drive?

But your idea is more like a Project Track Car instead of a normal car bro. In that case,
choice of project cars are just not really something we can choose from the cars that are in
the market but somehow a car that was designed personally with some chassis restructuring.

Ya, I get your point about discussion on chassis wise, but not many of us have knowledge
like yours in building one but we can only pick a few from the cars available in the market.

Which a lot of us had mentioned about Satria or even C99 chassis. Of course there are better
chassis from other brands than the C99 but at least is one of the good ones from Proton category.

Nice design though. Would like to see the whole complete ones when you are done with it.

Using 3D to construct that bro? Wish I knew 3D then I can design my own bodykits

That's just so true bro, inflation is catching up faster than our age and also our monthly income.
Is getting tougher each year for everyone like u said are not born with a golden spoon or silver spoon. Even businesses nowadays are way too competitive and is never easy as well. Franchises closing down is just common nowadays.

Competition.

Your completed car will be based on normal looking road cars with roof or is it based on small track cars like BAC Mono, Radical SR and Ariel Atom?

So far, there isn't a clear regulation to deal with this kind of low quantity car.
Probably tow to track to play. Because if I were to do it like registered road car, I have to deal with tax. Now it's toy. Kit car can be registered in Uk as
Class M (not sure the class, but definitely no problem)

Until BN down, I don't propose any further

I'm targeting sub rm15k

why dislike altis being cabs? hehe, with inflation increasing so quickly, therefore we need to find ways to make our money work harder and that makes a tougher choice to put it into a hobby that is depreciating in value and high expense. however say all this, i am still saving up for my project car. haha, i estimated that it will probably take a year or so..

Actually this is another reason I bought up this topic

My concept stated earlier, a everyday car + a project car

You might actually spend less, and you will definitely get better value from money

Mod your Everday car,
1. Kill realibility, that why reluctant to do
2. High cost to achieve small target
3. No point putting carbon stuff while if u are fat.

If a project can able revert everything above
I don't see why not.

Try to engineer as much thing as u can, u can save a lot

nah...its not going to be my everyday car since i already have one, it'll be a weekend fun car where i can drive it on public roads and take it to the tracks. its not my objective to spend money on something that i can't drive legally on the roads else i might as well buy a go kart. Lastly i am also not engineer train hence building my own stuff is out the the question. :burnout:

Besides the Satria Neo chassis, there are few older Proton chassis which is quite okay.
This includes the C99 aka 1.8 Wira, Satria GTI or at least the 1.6 variant and Putra.
The 1.3 Satria chassis isn't double welded. Not viable as a project car chassis. Unless you do spot welding.
Putra is getting rare and just like the Satria GTI, it's is quite a thief magnet, but it offer more fun since its already on 4G93.

Hey thanks very much

But that is the truth mah.....:biggrin:

Sure bro, a dream is still a dream we must achieve just depends on how long it takes for us to achieve it.

Haha. Back in year 2002, I visited several European countries with my family. I saw a lot of W210 Mercedes Benz E Class (the one with one large and one small oval headlamps) being used as taxis over a few countries at there, especially Germany. I was quite surprised back then when I saw so many Mercedes Benz being used as taxis.

As for the citizens around Europe, I notice they prefer small cars especially hatchbacks instead of going for sedans like our country. Mostly you will see a lot of Fiat, Peugeot, Renault, Citroen and Volkswagen over there. Those models that are common were usually small like the size of Myvi and Swift.

Something like our Airport Limo Taxis. Only got on one before once. But what I didn't like actually is that the Limo taxis from airport.
They pump petrol without switching off the engine. I know they dont want their customers to feel hot but is actually endangering our life
