Modifications That Dont Work

no idea..never driven a DBW car with the throttle controller...but i doubt it.. prlly have to go for sport setting

once do some CAI and drop-in intake.. can use in normal mode. Not so sluggish. If on sport mode SP5, when step a little, it will downshift. Your wallet RM50 stack also downshift faster.

pls explain to me how does open pod and CAI affect the speed of the electronic signal being sent to the tb?

also downshift? u must be talking auto.....i was talking more on the manuals....

throttle response is wat i would be after....press throttle n the car goes...not press throttle wait a second n then the car goes. lol

May I ask, what about CAI with stock airbox for auto tranny? Works better? Lol

upgraded drop-in air filter + bigger CAI works. example, myvi/kenari

some newer generation cars edi equipped with a nice CAI, so aftermarket CAI is not needed.example, campro

Hi all I came across Firestorm ignition coil booster and it seems that there are quite some positive reviews on it. It is said to provide better and smoother acceleration as well as fuel saving. Well I'm not so into the power part but more interested on the fuel savings part. If fuel tank it can result in 5~10% more kilometer then it will be a good product already as it gives lifetime warranty I.e. this is for long run. Have anyone tried it before?

It might put stress on the ignition coil and cause premature failure like how those high intensity cables kill a coil faster than usual.

I was asked if I had tried this in the past but when I asked for samples for testing I didn't get any response. So too bad.

wow even surbo doesn't works well too? maybe a piping re-work will improve hp isn't it

Dude, Surbo is just something to block your intake air passageway. Imagine you sucking your drink with a straw. If I stuck something inside that straw (like cincau for example) would you still use the same amount of suction to get to the drink? No. You'd need much stronger suction otherwise the amount of drink that'll come through is small. Same concept applies. It restricts airflow and the way most intakes work is negative pressure and the pressure is constant (eh.. did I get that right? Positive or negative when it's 'sucked' in?) so if the vacuum is the same but there's less air going through, what do you think will happen to your car?

I have thought that initially, but the explanation given to someone who asked this question before:

"No, it will not overload the coils. This device has been designed to increase the efficiency of the ignition coil by way of resonance, NOT by capacitive or by increasing the voltage as most other products are designed.

This device will NOT kill any part of the electrical components as the supply current is much lower compared to stock. This is similar to how PWM works. When the efficiency is raised, the voltage rises but the current goes down.

Higher current devices of other ignition boosters directly raise the primary winding voltage from 12V to 16V or even to 18V to induce a higher current in the secondary winding, which causes the primary current to go up high, very high."

Hmmmmm.....

Kinda interested in this firestorm thing too.. but got some ppl tried and given honest remark of no significant change/improvement

Increasing voltage via resonance is theoratically sound and I don't have enough electrical knowledge to comment further. But I still think there'll be something that'll ultimately be affected. Electricity works in mysterious ways.

Still - I asked the seller for a free sample and I'll do a free demo product test for him but no response. :hmmmm:

It is something like giving the spark plug a bigger spark, but there were questions raise like, does bigger spark burns the fuel better? The air fuel just need the spark to ignite, so whether bigger is better or the same?
Having said that, (this was years ago) I had a friend whose brother is an engineer so he setup an electronic booster or something to increase the spark of the spark plug. Fitted on, drove about 3 miles then call in for help. Car died so upon checking the plugs electrode melted....:hmmmm::biggrin:

I don't really know how it works also haha...that's why I'm curious and ask opinions from you guys..one of the selling dude actually offers joy ride for keen buyers. I think he would plug and unplug the firestorm to show what it can do...maybe he will lend you the product.

A bigger spark would really result in a more efficient burning. Just like engines with direct injection. Fuel is injected directly to spark plug to improve efficiency.

3 miles only the plugs were gone? It must be a godlike booster haha..too much electrons to to plugs

heh! heh! yup, if they can loan one set to bro. Izso....

Direct injection also got cons, I heard is dirty intake valves....

Yup, I think since boosting, boost all the way. Means also got limit, cannot over....:hmmmm:

Yalor...coz the burning is near to the valves.

Ya if the seller can loan Izso a set to try, that would be awesome.

Izso, have you tried proposing this? There's a seller in ZTH and a few in LYN.. Maybe you should show them your previous test write ups. If their product is good, they would benefit from you too. We all get benefit haha in terms of knowledge

But if test turn out negative, business down the drain woh! so product must be good if to be tested by bro, Izso....
