Fyi,in the 2nd pic,the brake pad material melt like a wax ~

Thanks for any info ~

better change it, doesnt costs much though.

Too late, this car already crashed ~ when at genting downhill road, brakes suddenly doesn't work at all and crash the car in front ~

This brake pad i only replace about 2 weeks ago ~

With the old brake pad,1 week i go genting 5 times oso doesn't have this kind of problem ~ :banghead:

wah...unlucky...how bad is the crash...??car and driver ok...??

IMHO should take legal action against the shop that sell and install that pad...gila apa 2 weeks of usage already in that condition...even if use pads from chop shop wont deteriorate that quick...

Nothing serious, luckily the car have a quite hard body shell ....only radiator,AC Condenser,Light's and bumper are gone ~

The driver is me lo,i can type in here guess im ok huh? haha =P

Yeah, the brake pad not deteriorate, but melt and the friction material i could just nick it off with my finger nails, even the Tokico brake pad i use before this wear til the backing already,im not experience with brake failure problem ~

tell u what,on normal highway, running at 120Km/h and suddenly wanna brake to 90-100Km/h there is a very stink smell, just like the brake pad overheat,i think it was still new so i didn't bother it but til at Genting mountain pass,on downhill suddenly losing all of the brake power i only realise it was the brake pad problem ~ sigh =S

But luckily in front of me got a car for me to crash to stop it from continuously gaining speed....if not me and my car will crash to the divider and if the divider broke will fall down the hill then sure Gone dy ~

So what should i do to that workshop?

Hi Wilson,
Do you mind to tell what brand is this brake pad? So we all can avoid it.

Still doesn't know.....coz the mechanic refuse to tell me....when i ask he only say it was made in Germany but when i asked the brand he say forget la....bla...bla...bla ~

ive never seen brake pads melted sir, shudnt have driven it farther once uve spotted it melted like in the pix imo. braking system is the most important system in a vehicle fyi, if its not in good condition, then dont drive it

luckily its a minor accident...but still the damage have been done...in your case the root cause of the accident is pad (whether it is the pad it self or it was poor workmanship during installation to your vehicle)

does the pad came with some kind of warranty or something...??

as for what you should do...first step maybe can confront the person/workshop and tell them what happened and see how things goes from there...

danzeterna can consult you better...he have experience with the tribunal thingy...if i remember correctly...the workshop even close shop after the fiasco with him...can read it all here

Danz is powerful! No more workshop dares to mess with him.

brand saja german, made in china kut,,

That's a high possibility! The mainland Chinese are copying everything from head to toe, identical at the outside but hollow inside, even Apple Store concept is not spared either.

but this case abit susah...cos there are a few parties involved, the manufacturer (the so called german brand) & the distributor (dunno who, must look at the box) & the retailer (the shop u bought it from).....

u blame 1 guy, the other guy will blame another guy...& it goes on.

so for your case, u better confront the shop u bought it from (provided u have the reciept la, if not close case edi no need to do anything). lets assume u kept the reciept, tell him that this had happened to u while going down genting....although its 2 weeks old.....get a refund from him or at least replace with EBC ones haha...if can la...

memang cannot claim the damages from him....cos its not his fault, he could blame u of driving recklessly. if he dowan to layan u...u could report to tribunal (provided u still keep the reciept as mentioned above).

tell him that u will be back to handover the letter to court. (but its actually tribunal, let him goyang abit haha)

haha no la dun say like that...i learned alot during the process....ive made some silly mistakes too..like going to mahkamah in jln duta to file my case, but actually need to file it at shah alam, cos its under PJ. if happened in KL then its jln duta......naik turun the mahkamah....like dunggu..cannot find the proper dept...had to ask alot of ppl...some say left, some say right, some say upstairs, some say downstairs...until pening....

but its all worth it........although i didnt win the case but im happy that he closed shop :)

Actually I really admire and respect you for your principle and insistence.

So how can we find out what 'German' brand it is ?

We need to identify it .. so others can be aware or a report on that brand can be made !

I also doesn't know that it has already melt ~ if i know,do you think i would drive that at Downhill Genting,it would be like commit suicide ~

Til now i don't know the brand of the pad yet, wait til i take it out for replacement 1st and see wheather there is a brand,if there it is i will post it up on here ~

BTW,anyone know where can i get a set of original Tokico Brake Pad for Suzuki Swift?

Thanks =)
