One more local ECU : Uncle Leow's ECU

SMT,SAFC,E-Manage is NOT a standalone EMS, they're still piggybacks.

Which EMS is best?

1. EMS that is easy to setup and tune
2. EMS that has all functions that u need
3. EMS that doesn't has functions u never need
4. EMS that can do datalogging

U don't need EMS until ur current stock ECU / piggyback can no longer cater ur need. Things like camshaft (not the racing one) and exhaust mod actually don't need standalone ECU. Only when u're going for extreme eg quad throttle bodies, racing camshaft, increase turbo boost to over 1.5 bar and turbocharging stock ECU, EMS is necessary.

Some stock ECUs are actually programmable eg 4G93 ECU, that's where remapping/rechipping comes in eg Drax/J5. For 4G13/15 owners, sorry to say, it's not programmable, even using SAFC won't be able to remove its 6500RPM rev cut

Ems

Taqu,
Let's say if I want to convert my VR4 from MAF to mapping? Do I need to use EMS or a piggyback will do? Or even a SAFC?

Convert MAF to MAP?

1st and budget option, HKS Vein Pressure Converter (VPC). Alot of Buschur Racing (US based 4G63 pro-tuner) car using. But I think difficult to find one.

2nd best option, call MILLENNIUM MOTORSPORTS. I think they carry an affordable piggyback that allows MAF to MAP and fuel adustment as well.

MILLENNIUM MOTORSPORTS ASIA (M) SDN.BHD.

3rd option is to go Stand Alone EMS.

MAF meters the air flow. The cumbersome sensor restricts airflow at the intake.

MAP meters air pressure. No restrictive sensor.

In case of MAP-ed turbo cars, u can hear the spooling sound of turbo...LOUD!!!! ;)

Joeker,
What brand of piggyback that Millennium carries? And what's the price of it?

Has anyone used the SMT-6 before? How good is it and I heard it can be re-tuned. Price?

Random Post Every 5 Minutes

I got my replica CE28N rims with a rough powder coating, looked very nice at first and now after a few months they have this shitlike looking brake dust sticking around the spokes.

I tried scrubbing them with a sponge, it worked but only for the medium deposits. For the really black spots I can't do anything about them :banghead:

I don't want to use anything more abrasive than metal brushes since my rims are the rough matte type.

Anyone came across this problem and came up with an idea...
