Totally Speechless!

in a discovery channel (or was it national geographic?) show about "tiger monks" who live in Thai, when the lower ranking monks were taken out to a proper tiger santuary, they drove in an expensive MPV, stopped at a gas station and bought carbonated drinks, snack and tidbits, candy (which im sure contains gelatine). all while the narrator casually, even comically quips that its natural to deviate from the teachings once away from teh temple. this program is shown all over the world and to astro viewers who subscribe to it.

on one of the national channels a number of years back, (most prolly TV3), another documentary showcased the life of shinto monks in japan. one of the heads of a temple in japan had a past time activity.

u ready?

he is shown in a full racing suit and drives (his own) lamborghini countach. in the footage he is shown driving fast on the road, and i could not recall whether it was stated if he entered any events or just a casual weekend trackday racer.

times have changed my friends, times have changed.

all i can say is WOW.

I remember the Thai's were all having a hoo-haa over this Chief Monk of a temple who liked collecting cars. And had the usual Mercs & Bimmers in his fleet of cars.
