Bro's and gurus,

Recently i read with interest in one of the 4AGE info page on the net, something like ".....if you break the cam belt, it won't affect your in/ex valves int SVT/BT head...". Does these mean that it doesn't give fatal result as most of other cars do? Meaning if you break them.....just change the belt....straightaway you can drive??? Anybody experienced it b4.....timekaseh....

i read that also but dunno true or not. Any zth member or foreman taiko can confirm this?

When u guy change the timing belt did u change the bearing and 3 oil seal (2 big and 1 small) together? what is the price for the timing belt, bearing, and 3 oil seal?

Normally, when changing timing belt is suggest change the bearing.... about the oil seal depend is 1 leaking suggest cahnge all... scared 2 time job mar.... About the price last time I ask is around RM350

try searching the Net for interference and non-interference engines, and you'll know the answer. 4AGE 20v is non-interference engine....

Saw from the internet b4..someone stated that " A rule of thumb for Toyota, SOHC - Interference Engines, DOHC - Non - Interference Engines.."
So..u got the answer?

My experience during the last CNY, timing belt snapped prematurely at Jertih (small town in Terengganu) .Wait 2 days for the belt (cuti CNY) and install . Head back to Paka , terengganu(200km jpourney) . Till now is still ok.
Actually my belt snapped due to tensioner bearing tilted due to the mounting point of the bearing senget - due to poor re fabrication of the bearing mounting (bad engine conversion) .

yes...just change the belt n drive. but usually when doing timing belt change also change the tensioner, seals coz hard to access those area .also inspect water pump area for abnormal condition.
