im running a gti with a evo 3..
what are the causes..is it common...what should i do...?

wiring prob is the most common issue here bro,
u foremen need to recheck the wiring..

bro, did u install any management or like any wiring that have to tap from the ecu? check those wirings, my evo4 ecu also burned last time because the afc neo current wire touching the body...

i also have experienced this rare ecu burn type problem.....from an evo 2 engine
it just only cause by.....
do u guys see the engine wiring harness that came from inside to outside beside the aircond pipe..???
from the harness there will be 1 set earth wire from the wiring harness that been plug to the inlet manifold n car body.....
1 of my customer just finish installing alarm.....
then the earth wire set are not been tighten properly to the manifold.....about 1 month after that the ecu fail to work properly which when he accelerate after 5k rpm it like the power been shut down after it reach above 5k rpm....ive check the ecu after that n not finding any burning damage in that ecu...change the power tr unit,the coil,the plugs but still fail.....
luckily ive try changing the ecu n it works back as usual.....
fuhhh.....just a simple cause from the grounding wire from that can cause the owner that much...a new ecu unit..... the earth wire when are not tighten properly it will give cause like a switch been on n off many times in one time that can cause any electronic unit in that ecu just burn without u can notice.....
just be careful guys....from me who just wanna share some experienced...k
