Depends on what you want in a car. If you want a car that is fun to drive, the R3 is worth it - for the price you are paying. If you are looking for comfort, luxury - look elsewhere. Build quality is an issue that affects all Protons and you have to be mindful that you may need to spend quite a lot of time at Proton Edar Service Centres getting the problems ironed out.
The R3 is a different kind of luxury, given its price alone :)
But for more info, pros n cons...do enquire at the R3 owner's discussion thread http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/showthread.php?p=666148#post666148

change wat? ECU? can, but u new car change back to MMC ecu, waranty bo lioa and also its gonna cost u 1k+, u'll have to change wirings, throttle body etc etc to adapt to the MMC ecu. not worth it IMHO.
It hasn’t been that long really but the engineers at Nissan already have a round of improvements in store for next year’s 370Z as well as for the Nismo version...
