Opinion on Proton Savvy

Just to share some opinions as my wife bought a Savvy AMT half year ago, it's a 5 year car with 57k clocked in. After some debates betwen Myvi or Savvy, i realised she chose the correct choice...

Good
1) The handling is good.
2) Chasis is stiff for it's segment.
3) The AMT is a joy to play with, it's a robotised Magneti Marelli gearbox anyhow...
4) FC is low at RM0.10 per km.
5) Small compact easy parking & is a joy in city driving.

Bad
1) Engine is noisy.
2) Car unstable at highway speeds.
3) Crank sensor unit have problem. (My foreman says is common with Savvy)
4) Unpredictable gear change, AMT robotic change gear to "auto" and back to "manual" by itself. (Heard Elf Renaultmatic D3 synthetic gear oil can solve this,i will service her car this week try out)

Overall if you need a car from A to B, this i say is perfect, if you don't care about its looks, Savvy rocks in the small car segment!

I have sold my savvy

the car is good in all areas except for maintenance.

there is no other car in the market that is sweet, compact and handles well. It is a very lovable car to drive.

But maintenance is just too much for me during my 3rd and 4th year.

i haven't bought anything yet.

my wife and i work in the same office so we r sharing.

i'm looking at a 2nd hand celica.

Now I'm confius to take which car..as I'm working lady and in my mind only two car saga or savvy.. :hmmmm:

please help me

Dont know about savvy..

but in the k car segment, i prefer Perodua.. they r the best seller..

peace.. out :burnout:

i have been considering savvy too. But scared of the maintenance cost but attracted by the low 2nd hand price.

All commented go for MT which is less problem.

saga 1.6se is a good buy, few friends bought it, great acceleration, good fc, good handling and easy maintenance. it comes with 2 airbags, abs + ebd, leather seats, bodykit + spoiler, immobilizer, 15inches rims etc....rm49k only...not trying to promote anything..just sharing..

I bought a used Savvy (M) for my mum and she loves it !
Heck even I love it as its a great city driving car. Great fuel consumption, super easy to drive and park and superb handling for its size and class. It has now clocked 100K+ KM but still going strong with no issues apart from the AC knob not switching the AC speed correctly. The car is full stock and I maintain using ELF fully sync oil (recommended) by Renault. All in all, I fully support anyone who want to get this car. Of course, it being a Proton you can expect some defects soon but for its price and age, its a great bargain ! Do read up the active topics and learn about the car from savoc.net. Very helpful bunch of owners there

Even though it seems quiet now.. Savvy is a great small car anyway. ;)

if u r going to get a savvy, get manual transmission for maximum satisfaction..

Opinion? don't even ever consider this car.
