As per subject...
OK, ok... I may not be a fan of local cars but since my business is expanding, I'm looking for a small minivan or SUV (may opt for a fleet of minivans or SUVs in the future) to run around (carry tools / people).
For a budget of less than RM 30k, I've narrowed down to the following:
1. Proton Juara (2001)
2. Kia Sportage (1997)
Alright, laugh all u want but some may ask, "Why a Juara?"? or "Why not a Toyota Liteace?"
My requirements below:
1. Automatic tranny
2. Low maintainance
3. Plenty of JDM parts
4. Not too old
5. Good fuel consumption
Since I will be working mostly on site, a Kia Sportage would be the ideal candidate. Then again, the site I usuall go have proper roads and are easily accessible.
I used to owned a Kia Sportage once back in 1997 and though it has many horror stories, it's still a cheap n good SUV. Problem is high fuel consumption and expensive parts (as with any Korean cars).
So now, the only choice is a Proton Juara. From what I heard so far... this little minivan is very easy to maintain and almost problem free. What I'm concern so far is the available of local parts from Proton (since they already canned this model). Any owners or club members (if any) cared to comment on this subject? Very much appreciated.
Also, are they any used car dealer selling this minivan? My usual dealer (whom I've been buying cars for years) doesn't want to sell or buy it. The most he could recommend me is the Kia Sportage at RM 25k.
For as long I can carry tools (some wood tools) and occasionally 6ft / 7ft floor boards without hassle, this will attract attention. Vans or SUV can carry up to 7ft (by folding down the front seats). But a Juara? It looks kinda short.
Would like to hear some comments from everyone. Those who have nothing to say (but still want to flame), pls jump down from the Sky Bridge at Petronas Twin Towers.:retarded:
