Jeremy Clarkson!

nola he didn't complain about the voice recognition mah.... he made it play coldplay-clocks. anyway, Jeremy dunno how to drive wan la... Tiff is much better.

Just because you don't agree with the man's opinion, he's an ass? He can have his, you can have yours. You don't like it, then don't watch.

The problem with some of you and those motherfuckers who complained about his articles is that you have a broomstick stuck so far up your arse that you just can't keep an open mind. Especially when something you like get's criticised.

And again, some of you are complaining about him stereotyping but you are stereotyping Clarkson as well.

He's British ok. So obviously if a pretty decent car comes out of Britain he's gonna love it ie. Aston Martin's and Land Rover's (owned by Ford) and Bentley's (Volkswagen) and Rolls Royce's (BMW) and even Lotus' (Proton). He loves Ferrari's as well. As you can see, to say he is extremely biased is stupid. He has championed a lot of good Japanese cars before Toyota's, Subaru's, Mitsubishi's, Honda's...etc.

But he being a normal person and a British citizen, has his personal issues with certain people and certain things. Germans (WW2, Nazis) and the French (lots of issues in history) and Americans (same as the French). So he's bound to take the mickey and joke about these groups of people, and the cars they make. He's also bound to make preconceptions a bout a car based on its brand ie. he's not gonna like a Proton or a Kia or a Hyundai even before he sees it. But he still does use rational when he judges a car. His priorities when judging a car are "How a car makes you feel?", "How fun is it to drive?", "How powerful is it?", "How good looking?", "Build quality" in that order.

He himself admits he doesn't like BMW. But still he loved the M3 and the M3 csl and the M5 and the Z1. He always complains about how his Mercedes keeps breaking down and how bad the service and dealers are and how the electronics in the car don't work properly. Plus, he bought an American supercar.

He criticises cars because they are plain bad or unsuitable for Britain (most American cars), bad or cheaply made (American and Korean and Malaysian), pointless (like a lot of crazy Jap cars and big off roaders) or they lack soul and character.

And, like I've said earlier, that's his style, not boring newscaster type motoring journalism. His main goal is to entertain and make people laugh (it doesn't matter if YOU don't find it funny) and judging by the success of Top Gear, his way definitely works.

well said silverfish,

I need to watch Top Gear more.

BTW have any you guys watched the "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "

You haven't been following enough of TG. Heheh. In some of the episode he brought it up. Not the one where he reviewed his own SL55.

Jeremy Clarkson really is the best. Bought both his books in London and it definitely worth every penny. His favourite car is the ferrari (can't recall which one though) as mentioned in his 100 Cars That Make You Go ......

He had lots of great things to say bout a couple of japanese cars. We cant hold that against him. The reason i suppose we malaysian's find him offensive is the fact that there really is no opinion at all allowed to us in terms of expression. Everything must be dealt with sugar coating.

Its the Ferrari 355, his favourite Ferrari of all time. Which he used to own, before the bought the SL55 AMG, which he bought just because, in his own words, "I liked the sound it makes".

I'm wondering if he has gotten delivery of his Ford GT yet.

Your first exposure to Jeremy Clarkson's type of motoring journalism is it?
Nope!

Its just, I don't find his comments especially about the Japs thats funny at all.
I remembered NST was criticised by an American for publishing his article about a car(could be a Corvette), where as usual, he had a load of crap to say about Americans first before the car.

Anyhow, just my 2 cents!

hhahahaaa...i read it too lad...but do u realize hes critisizing JC for feeding anti-american sentiments to the malaysian...best part is he thought JC is a malaysian....and one malaysian actually replying his letter and saying that JC is a bloody british and its their allies....hahahahaa.....funny to talk about british joke and american ignorance

rude and offensive.

the way he compares vehicles with layman terms, not technically speaking, which is good somehow. he can beautifully describe a car but i shall say that, tiff is much better when it comes to driving skills.

tiff is a le mans driver...thats why...

You do realise one can't effectively convey ones emotions through text, don't you?

Just like you, everyone is entitle for their opinion.....!!
So does Clarkson. Which is what I'm trying to tell you folks.

IMO, ones limited capabilities doesn't speak for all!

Quite right. Which is why you thought I was "too worked out" and should "chill". Is that because I couldn't write properly or you couldn't comprehend properly?

i did watched a couple of top gear and i must say this guy is an entertainer. funny one too. most of the time, he exxagerates the comments but i actually enjoy watching top gear.

but really if you're looking to buy a car, u should be going to the centre to test drive the cars instead of watching his programme. as i mention, he's more of an entertainer and doesn't really care what the hood he's gonna receive when they return the test car. but the stuff u read in a magazine or newspaper about a testdrive is different. the editors are obliged to write something good about the car and very minimal bad stuff, or rather they discretely critisize it. for instance, a car magazine may say 'this cup holder position is rather unconventional' where else jeremy clarkson may say 'what the hell is this cup holder doing in this god foresaken area'.

lets just say some people enjoy watching CSI for entertainment but some people enjoy watching the simpsons.
