i got a pioneer deh-3850 player & a soundstream xsc6 component speaker.
my treble sounds good but it lacks bass
should i get a amp to power my speakers ?
or is it just my speakers which are lousy ?

try increasing your player bass setting. See if you can get some bass without going into distortion.

In general, player internal amplifier power is a bit too small to power up component speakers.

if u r not satiffied, get an amp.

If u are looking for low bass then i think u need maybe a subwoofer to get those nicer bass with an amp, a budget of around RM2,000 for a subwoofer and amp will be good enough. Something like a second hand 4 good amp and a alpine 12" type R subwoofer. Maybe ur front speakers u like to get another 2 channel amp to power it up.

usually for component set, head unit power isnt enough. it needs minimum 50W rms, compared to HU's 12-15W rms only.... for bass power is important..

i tweaked my player settings without improvement
seems that i need a 2 channel amp
thanks for everyones advice
