different between big and small vtec? i need to know weather the performance is difference? which want is more powerful?

the smaller word VTEC on the engine head cover is the 'small vtec'...it has 160HP

the bigger word VTEC on the engine cover (bigger than DOHC word) is the big v...it has 170HP

i think...the v tec function between big vtec and small is different 2
dunno much bout it..anybody ??

The clutch is different for - small vtec = using cable (hard) punya + horsepower different + torque + compression ratio + the ignition system (as told by someone) correct me if I'm wrong.

if im not mistaken..the intake manifold is also different...a lot of changes but only 10HP gain...haha

Aiyo...... Big Vtec has a later opening at 5800 rpm unlike a small vtec which open at about 5000 rpm. i think cause i have all honda cars at home. Haha. Big and small. lol

hahaha..
all the while i tot
BIG V = DOHC
small V = SOHC

guess i was soo sooo wrong for soo osoooo many yrs....

Malaysians simply call VTEC big or small... but who knows if this person's " Big " is the same as another person's "Big"?

vtec kecik = D16/B16
VTEC BESAR = B18/K20
vtec cerdik = i-vtec

so B16B Type-R with those wild cams is also VTEC kecil?

see what I mean

Big V and Small V only apply to the B16A series......Big V=B16A2....Small V=B16A1

IIRC...B16A2 is the latter version of B16A series....:idea:

wiring also different kot...

i've do some research on VTEC engine for quite awhile,
based on my experience on VTEC technology engine,
it is true that the big VTEC has bigger VTEC letter then the dohc letter,
and vice versa for the small VTEC, it has smaller VTEC later then the dohc.
example; dohc VTEC on big VTEC
DOHC vtec on the small VTEC.
and there's one more differences between big and small VTEC,
i'm sure you guys are familiar with toyota's vvt-i engine technologies,
vvt-i is only variable at the intake valve.
unless its a twin vvt-i, then the variable valve timing is on the both camshaft.
so the small VTEC is something similar to vvt-i,
the VTEC is only on the intake side of camshaft,
and the big VTEC works similarly like the twin vvt-i,
Big VTEC works on the both of the camshaft,
so obviously the small VTEC will produce lesser power and torque then the big VTEC.
but most of the mechanical stuff are much all the same.

so this is so far my research on VTEC engine,
you guy's please correct me if i'm wrong,
i'm willing to learn.
thank you.
