choosy cd player

What type of player you have? If old model then sure cannot play CDR or RW. If you still want to use it then try to burn the CD at slower rate like 2X, then maybe it can read.

well i bought a audio cd-r burned at 8x worked perfectly. brand was TDK. wondering if other branded non audio cd-r's will work

You can try Imation CDR, but have to burn on slow rate as I said earlier, if not it cannot play. I guess your player is an old model or the cd reader is old model (before 1999), as most of the cd player house or car at that time cannot play CDRs. But if you burn it on slow rate, the chances are 50%/50%. If you burn at fast rate then it is called multi speed disc, this disc the older player cannot play as their speed only 16X I guess. You can buy a new player also if you have money, now most of the player can read CDRs. The other reason that I ask you to burn on slow rate is the bass quality, if you burn fast the bass will not be so nice compare to you burn at slow rate. Hope this will help..
