Changing Alloy Rim Colour: Need advice

Dear all ZTH members,

I hope to get some advice from experience forumers here. I am a total noob in changing colour for mags.

I am planning to change my rim colour from the usual silver to matt black or gun metal colour. Is painting the best option? Does the colour last?? Any rims specialist around for this job? From what I've read a proper painting would involve blasting/surface preparation, then few coats of primer and then lastly painting it. Highly doubt any kedai tepi jalan would do all this.

Although changing a totally new rim is ideal but its quite costly and I feel its not worth it.

Hope someone here will be kind enough to share experience or advice me.

u can send it to normal car spraying shops to get it done...theyll do all the necesasry prep work (except remove the old color)...price is typically RM50/rim

or u could opt for powdercoating..more durable than paint... usually RM100/rim

If respray the rims, try to leave to rim edge in silver or natural metal color. If you spray that area, mounting and removing the tyres will scratch that area.....

wrapping with stickers is fine, but depends on the complexity of the form of your sports rims.
SSR MKI rims (dulang) is easy to wrap, but those rims with many curves, fins, etc........the worksmanship would already cost a bomb, not to mention the colour material to be used.

Buy a whole tank of plastidip and then "thummmmmmm" the whole rim dip in it should be fun haha like satay celup

maybe ur local regular tyreman might have few contact of ppl do refurbish rims (probably discount)

Can try Quicksave in USJ, if you are from that area. Saw some refurbished rims there.....
