Using a performance brake...no dust...

normal temperature...no squeal at all...
operating temperature...it squeal and it's very annoying :banghead: (doesn't effect performance, perhaps)
brake bleeding already did...still the squeal exist...

brake squeal can be solved by 3 things...
1) Copper-based grease - can also helps to prevent brake fade...but hard to find it...any clue where can get one of this ? Performance shop ?

2) Brake pad shim - heeee..mine went missing...who got spare or where can get the whole front set ?

3) Skimming brake - already done it...brake bleeding n bed-in done also...

or is it normal after 50% brake pad usage ???

HELP...!!!

performance brake pad suppose to work at its best at a certain temp right? thus the squeal? Unsure

My car also squeal (Standard SEG,cheap (FBK) brake pads).Very annoying and malu...but it only squeal when light braking, under heavy braking it doesnt squeal at all,in fact it locks the wheel right away, nearly caused me an accident the other day.

I have tried tapering the edges of the pads and sandpaper the pads surface but it doesnt work. And strange thing is i can hear that it only occur on one side.I do have the pad shims on it,2 on the outer and one on the piston.

I havent bled the system nor skim the disc yet.Just change the pads, previously using bosch,no squeal at all.But if you see videos of race cars or performance cars, during braking sure got squeal sound.

yea...
i've even tried to rough up the surface by sanding it on the rough surface like the road tarmac...bleed it...still there's a sound...does 50% pad left makes it squeals ???

yeaa... i know the sound...but that one more grip plus the sound much more brutal...even during light braking...it almost sound like your brake pad finish already...huuu...

bro...do you know where to get the Copper-based grease ???

I dont think 50% worn pad cause squealing, unless its really worn to the metal,or some metal touches on metal.I dont know where to find the grease, spare parts shop maybe...

I'll try service the brakes again...see can improve or not.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem as bro cusco has. Light braking, the squeal sounds really bad. I've skimmed the rotor and the brake pad is erm...kinda new...perhaps 75% new. Using Akebono Japan twin pot.

My rotor started to have uneven lines. Could that be brake pad problem??? Hope to get some tips here.

If you find nothing amiss (no worn linings, or loose, damaged or missing parts), then you can do all of the following measures to deal with the noise problem:

Dampen the pads
Lubricate the calipers
Replace the caliper hardware (slides, pins or bushings)
Resurface the rotors
Clean the brakes (use air-compressor to blow away the brake-dust)
Replace the pads

To share with my experience

i am using bendix titanium series
i used to had this brake squeal after 3000km done on the brake-pad
however, it was resolved by using the air-compressor to blow the brake-dust contained in the brake.....
in fact bendix generates a lot of dust.

i'm using endless and yes having the squeal problem on the front right side.
but the sound will disappear after certain speed.
the sound will be so clearly when i pressed the brake lightly, having left corner and when during stop-go driving.

really annoying and will follow the advice to check. so far i just do wheel alignment but making the sound more clear rather than solve it.

Thanx Sincere1...

will make use of it...

yea bendix have a lot of dust...
mine no so many dust...clean rim...

your bendix squeal before or after operating temperature ???

my rear also use bendix...squeal sometimes, but after cleaning the pad dust..no more squealing
but want to change...too many dust....cause using white rims...any suggestion?

I have solved the squeal problem (up until now)..what i did is:

1.File the edge of the pads to taper it
2.Sand paper the pads surface
3.Remove the caliper, make sure the caliper mounting is free to move left
and right, and put some new grease.
4.Tighten the pad shims so it grips the pad firmly, and put some grease in
between.

Then assemble back..no squeal up till now,but sometimes i can hear slight squeal (about 0.5~1.5 sec),which i think came from the other side..
