i was using a 2mm copper sandwich gasket brand hegami. the stocker is 1.5mm. however the gasket sprung a leak the first day is used it. now im leaving it as it is.....i bought mine for rm120, some ppl selling as high as rm200.

i wouldnt advise to put in that gasket due to poor qc. not to mention the loss of compression and low end torque. i prefer the hi compression but lower boost. more all round power rather than that on-off turbo feeling......

u said u wer knocking ur engine at hi boost. boost how much then knock? got dyno or at least a/f meter to tune? if not confirm not enuff fuel 1. sure detonation n knock to deth.

also try some ignition retard on hi rpm full boost...na ignition curve too advanced for hi boost turbo....

i was using stock compression at 0.6 bar fine. never up boost. now wif the gasket i can boost 1 bar still ok....
 
wah lotsa turbo 4g1x nowadays can boost 1bar dat means u have tune ur engine well the AF ratio well if knock maybe need to adjust ur fuel regulator to increase fuel pressure and bigger cc injectors if can get a higher cams ur standard cams cater for n/a A/F delivery

the knocking didnt come when i tune my car
its like all the sud some day i boosting around 5-6k rpm got knocking
then its boostin around 0.65bar oledi.

then twice i tried, gasket middle bocor, at the same side some more =__=, dunno what happen, other than that, it perform well !
hw much u getting whp with 1bar boost? hopefully it can reach 150 or 160 lo, kinda high hope ==. currently only 132whp =__=

2 thin layers of copper in between got standard grphite gasket.

my turbo is limiting the hp to 150. because its a little too small for a 1.5...my 6krpm revcut is caused by the turbo...however, it can make up to 1 bar of boost by 2.4krpm and about 230nm torque....with my stock gear ratios, the driving feeling is akin a fast truck. running out of revs way too soon heheh. my turbo came from a diesel truck anyway heheh....
 
ur turbine meant 4 diesel powered engines 2 much boost the engine cant take the heat,maybe ur cylinder head isnt torqued properly thats why its leaking if ur using copper gasket there should not be a problem it should be able to take the heat and it tink its best u replace all ur cylinder head bolts maybe its has streached to its limit need replacement.
 
my head gasket leaked from the first day i put it in. i used a proper torque wrench, and retorqued the next day after finding the leak.

as i said earlier, this gasket has poor qc and the sandwich construction may be a reason for the leaks as well. i wouldnt recommend it to anyone, just use a standard gasket. i boosted my stock motor 0.6 bar no prob wif the stock gasket

or it could because of the jacked oil press....

my mech keep asking me to use a metal gasket as normal 1 kennot withstand the heat , my piston ring there burned twice ==
 
maybe u need to use nickel chromed ringsto widthstand the temperature and compression try get a better quality gasket n try replace ur cylinder head bolt im sure it will work plus upgrade ur cooling system to a bigger radiator and use proper radiator coolant.
 
well, extreme cyl temp could be caused by improper a/f ratio too. remember this is bolt on turbo, u trying to fool the ecu.....on the dyno, i found the ecu response to be extremely slow, taking about 3 sec under load to richen things out. with a small turbo, this may cause temporary lean condition

Just ordered and paid for a metal gasket from fellow forumer 4g93gtir for rm170 plus shipping... will let u know the results...
 
well, i received the gasket in da mail

. somehow i feel cheated. because the gasket wasnt a full metal gasket like the 4g9x gaskets...it is two piece chromed gasket sandwiching a standard gasket.

another thing, the thickness is 2mm (unlike stock 1mm) which will reduce CR....

it looks quite poorly made, just like my copper gasket......only this one is more expensive than my copper gasket....
